The Romans tended to refer to all those without the benefit of Roman culture as 'barbarians', whether these be Celts, Germanic tribes or other. The Chinese considered Koreans, Japanese, Europeans, etc. barbarians; the Japanese considered Europeans, Koreans, etc. barbarians; Europeans considered most non-European nations 'backwards', if not barbarians, and so on, and so on, and so on.<br /> <br /> Nothing new there.<br /> <br /> <img align=absmiddle src='images/smilies/biggrin.gif' alt='Big Grin'>
