Which part of the story was this in?
1) It's Florida.
2) The other parents are alleged to have been saying they "won't allow" their daughter to be gay.
There's no way this wasn't set into motion by evangelical or fundie parents. 1+1=2, 2+2=4, etc.
So you're basing this on "alleged" statements that haven't been in any of the sources I've looked at and on the geography? And then stating AS FACT that this is driven by religious animus?

The batshit fundies and evangelicals in Florida make the batshit fundies and evangelicals in places like Alabama and Mississippi look sane by comparison.
I don't make this shit up for my own amusement. I know these things about these places because I talk to people from there and read about it on the news. "My daughter is not allowed to be gay!" wouldn't be said by anyone else but a fundie/evangelical, except maybe for a Muslim.

Down here they made a big deal of 'claiming' the term and it's used all over the place.
In general, I've observed it's the more militant types who like to use 'queer' and the less militant folks tend to stick with 'gay' or 'GLBT'.
I've also observed that 'queer', as it is used around here, is a collective term for anyone who does not practice heterosexual monogamy. Thus some of the militant pagan polygamists also call themselves queer.

Link? Cause i still haven't found a qoute of the parents saying their daughter wasn't allowed to be gay.
Just to be clear, I think you're probably right about them being fundies, but the way you post these things as if they're fact, and then have nothing to back up your assertions is just irresponsible.
