So apparently Gillette has a new five blade razor, designed especially for men who need to shave in no more than seven seconds, or men suffering from RMS from moving their arm up and down too many times in the morning.
Honestly guys, does anyone fall for this shit? I admit, I have a three bladed razor (no aloe injectors or vibrating option), but I really can't see a huge difference from the regular two bladed razors. Hell, the best shave I ever had was from my barber with a straight razor.
As far as I can tell, there's only two reasons why five blades on one handle would make any sense at all:
- They've convinced people that two blades moving across your skin once is "less irritating" than one blade twice. But that's idiotic; your skin doesn't care which blade does the shaving when.
- People don't know when to throw a disposable razor out, and scratch dull blades across their face. Five blades means they will dull more slowly, and last longer.
I guess it's no worse than toothbrushes, but the stuff they come up with is ridiculous.
Moisturizing strips? I've got that one covered... it's called shaving cream and aftershave.
Vibrating razors? Maybe if they marketed them to women; make that morning shower a little more refreshing.
Suspension handles? I didn't develop this rotatable wrist for nothing, you know.
Please people, I don't want normal razors to become obsolete. STOP BUYING THESE STUPID THINGS AND LEARN HOW TO SHAVE!
Bravo!... I have to say I completely agree.
Bic disposables work for me..
I agree too Blue Nose!!!!!
Not only that but if you back up and look at the actual material cost of those blades you can really see the reaming begin. Those silly things are extremely expensive.......and for what?? Looking in front of me now I see the stapler on my desk which would cost around $10.00. A pack of double or triple blades are around $12-18.00. There's way more material and engineering in a stapler than in a whole package of those blades. Also all blades are not created equal, but are sold by the same manufacturer. A few years ago I got a free one in the mail for some reason. I give it a go and notice it was a pretty good shave compared to the cheap bic I'd been using. It lasted quite a long time as well, so I though I'd splurge and get a $15 overpriced pack of replacements. Oddly the replacements (made by same company) didn't work as well and didn't last that long either. Later while looking at the fine print on the box I noticed these blades, although having the same number of cutters weren't quite the same as the free one in the mail. I discovered that in order to get the same replacement blades that came with the freebee one needs to spend another $6-8.00. Now we're approaching $20.00 and you still need the handle.....which I got for free. Does it all make sense??? Of course not and that's what the manufacturer is counting on!
The lesson here is, buy the largest amount of razors for $.99 and throw them away when they start pulling hair instead of cutting them.
I use a Gilette Mach3 Turbo, but the best shave I ever got was from my barber.... Spot on Blue_Nose!!!!!!
At 17 you must get a shave at the same time you get a hair cut.
Actually there's lots of guy who shave........the whole package.
