Bandwidth charges. I really don't get it, unless this is another example of "Our shit is pricier than America's because we just fucking hate you all, and you can't do anything about it." In the US, there is no such thing as bandwidth usage. Just don't leave Limewire running or the RIAA will come knocking on your door asking for a pound of flesh. Here...here? $2 per gigabyte.
Now, does anybody, anybody at all, think this is a good idea? Anybody? Outside of Internet providers, of course, who love to rip off their customers, and once again, we can't do shit about it. What's the point of even providing Netflix/Impulse/Steam/blah blah blah services if you download Company of Heroes, and then realize you went over your 30 gig limit. Sigh.
Yes, I just paid an extra 30 dollars for going over their fucking limit. And yes, I'm fucking pissed off. But since I already went over that limit, I'm taking them for everything I can. Cities XL, Company of Heroes, Tropico 3, so on so forth coming out this month? Awesome. Download them all.
I know nothing about your ISPs. What's the problem get "unlimited" ?
I pay $20/month for 2.5Mb "unlimited".
If Shaw is available where you are, sign up with them (unfortunately I think they are only in the West right now). They have never charged me an extra cent despite using Limewire and BitTorrent a lot in the past. And I bundled my TV, phone and Internet and save about $30 a month too.
I'm from Israel.
We don't have that silly "Bandwidth charges". I think only cellphone companies have it.
You can try satellite internet.
You need ground line, receiver and dish.
Maybe one of your cellphone companies have internet package. We have this kind of internet. You need cellmodem and monthly pay about $45.
Economies of Scale. The more Customers you have, the Lower Price you are able to offer. Elementary Economics.
Check out satellite internet providers. $41.95/mo
