I am not coming out of the closet, since I have once said that immigrants must intergrate. That is nothing new. Again, nothing against immigrants (never perceived as a racist) but there comes a time that people must adapt.
Whether, it be muslims or anyone else, people need to realize that it must intergrate with the rest. C'mon anyone should come in and assimilate with the rest of the country, regardless. Enough said.
This is Canada....not the united sl**s of america....we're multi-cult....not a melting pot, turning everything into a big pot of featureless sludge.
The thing that I am going to say is very simple....
You are certainly not helping your cause. Meaning that all immigrants should intergrate.
Since you do not seem to grasp the concept of it all. We could ban all immigration until this matter is solved.
YOU seem to have the problem grasping the concept....... Canada is NOT a melting pot.......Canada embraces different cultures.....Canada encourages multi-culturism....Canada is strengthened by multi-culturism....... the only ones that aren't "integrating" into Canadian culture are those that advocate an american way of life where everyone is supposed to be the same through the "melting pot" scenario.
multi culturalism has only existed since the late 60's and early 70's. prior to that time canada followed the idea of the melting pot and yet there existed a distinct canadian identity, one that made us famous around the world and distinct from both the US and the UK. it has only been since the policy of multi culturalism (which stresses why people are different rather than what unifies us) was officially adopted by the government, that the canadian idenity has come under question. rather than the mosaic envisioned, canada has become fractured into series of ethnic ghettos, each vying and competing with other over who is more unique and deserving..........canada has become a microcosm of the third world. this divisive policy needs to end.

Personally, as a (still wannabe though 
) immigrant, I think it is very hard to try and maintain my "Dutch culture". It is not something I am going to do. Of course I will speak Dutch in my house with my kids, because I think it is important grampa and gramma can understand them, and knowing more than 1 language can only help you in life.
I am coming to Canada for a reason, and staying close to what I am used to is not one of them, I better stay here then.
Canada (to me) is a different country, it is a beautiful country, and it has its goods and its bads. I think it is important to find out how everything works, and before anyone can do that, they should be able to read, write and speak English. That is THE most important thing.
I think I am lucky though, because I don't look like a minority, so I won't be labelled as an immigrant at first sight. Just don't hear me talk, I will have an accent
