Dear God

Which is exactly why I personally can't believe in such a god...
If I've worked my entire life to be a decent human being - I have to share my eternal afterlife space with people like Charlie Manson & Hitler...simply because they claim to have atoned for their sins???
They
claim.
If you don't believe in God, why does who's going to an afterlife (and how) matter to you?
Besides, it's not through atonement, but through grace.
Well, there now, you've answered your own question - it doesn't, so I don't believe...
I'm not going to hell either...Satan is a Christian Diety - the entire world population isn't Christian.

Thankyou, but no Thankyou...

"He's your God, It's your hell..YOU GO THERE!"
I must say, I've never been Christian, but nothing has thrown me farther from becoming one than the time that I learned this atonement crap - a belief system that promotes submission to God as being more important than the quality of life you live is absolutely appalling to me.
On a sidenote - you're a glass blower? Too cool...
Yep, understand that completely...
(nodding in agreement)

(Thanks for the compliment - although..it's Hot!)
Great in our Canuck winters though...

I've run into a few 'christians' in my time who think that they can get away with any behaviour, go to confession, slate's wiped clean and they can start behaving immorally immediately. A Jewish friend put it in a good perspective though. He was taught by his rabbi that God can only forgive sins that you've commited against Him. Sins commited against your fellow man, you have to ask them for their forgiveness.
theres one hell of a lot of merit in your post...good job
For all that don't believe in God.
Why do I so offten hear "God damn it", "Jesus H. Christ". "oh for christ sake" ect... I hear over and over that God does not exist, that we are fools for believeing in God, that Jesus never even lived. So why do you use his name so much. Should you not swear by someone who did live? Say Alexander the great, Ceaser, Nepolian, Hitler... or some other figure your sure was once upon this earth.
For if you don't believe in him why do you use his name so much?

They're commonly used expressions that have progressed in usage beyond their original context, just like every other expression.
Saying, "don't cry over spilt milk" doesn't have anything to do with milk anymore, either.

Its pretty complicated not to realize the existance of God or Jesus or much of the christian bible because quite often the truths and realities of it jump up and slap you across the face , so denying it is just that "Denial" What alot of christians fail to realize is that the song is much what alot of christians feel if not all of them ...in my opinion its alot like If God exists , metaphorically speaking You can't keep trying to befriend or pet a wounded Lion if it keeps swatting you afterall it is the king of the jungle but it is your job to protect yourself by feeding it and caring for it otherwise you are going to be its food
Just My half baked opinion .

Yet the sayings have come from a fact or from something that had hapened. Yet when it comes to God so many want to deny his existance. I just find it odd thats all.

Well, "Oh my God" has come from the fact that people have been saying it for centuries. It's just an expression - I don't subconsciously or secretly believe in God if I use it.

Truth in that...
However, many faiths have the same concepts, so could it not be say, much of the Koran? Pagan Histories? And so on?
I think my biggest problem with Christianity, is it's unwillingness to admit that there may be others...
People worshipped long before Jesus walked the earth.

It's habit. I said it from when I was little and it is habit like if you hurt yourself you yell god dammit or something.

No, I don't believe they would, so I believe it's unlikely they're in Heaven right now, even had they said the "dinky little prayer".
I don't believe they are in heaven either, but for a different reason

yes I agree the Koran would be represented in there too ....worship is not uncommon even in Atheistville it might lean more toward science but spiritual fantasies persist in every walk of life . I only use the word fantasy to accomodate the confused however its hard not to believe in a higher power .Yes people did worship before Jesus even Jewish find this to be a complicated issue .
