Miss North Carolina Kristen Dalton was crowned Miss USA on Sunday, but the big story to come out of the normally politics-free telecast was Miss California's comments regarding gay marriage.
Miss California, Carrie Prejean Miss California, Carrie Prejean:
We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite. And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised.
What an incoherent stupid woman.
She starts out saying how great it is to live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or "opposite" (never heard that label before) marriage, then goes on to say how in "her" country and her family she believes marriage should be between a man and a woman.
I do not see what the big deal is. She was asked a question and she answer it. She stated her ideas on the topic. So people disagree with her. At least she had an answer unlike most of them.
Really, some people agree with SSM and others balk at it. Should we discriminate against those with a more 'traditional' view of marriage? I think there are small minded people on both sides of this argument. If the chick is against it , it's her view. Can we no longer disagree?
Personally I think all sexes should have to be married. At least once.
At least she stated her opinion respectfully, even though I don't agree with it. At least you know where she's coming from if ever down the road you live in California and she runs as for the office of State Senator. Court of public opinion can be a great tool socially.
She made a mistake though when she said "choice" as in a person chooses gay marriage, hence chooses being gay and falling in love with someone of the same sex male or female, is a choice in her opinion. I dont think it's a choice for the majority of gay people.
