Organized Religion is a CON!

So WHY then, if you were to die and then find that you are still very much alive (just without the body you got used to) would he embrace you with open arms and welcome you home? You're a stranger.
There are a lot of people I don't know now. There are some people I would have called a stranger not too long ago, that are now my friends.
Not a good point.
Actually, it is a good point since I am only talking about the immediate moment right this second. A stranger isn't a forever stranger. All we have is RIGHT NOW , that little space of time in between past and future. So I am just saying, "What if you died RIGHT NOW"? Are you totaly cool with where you're at???
Anyway, it doesn't matter really, I know what I believe thus far in my life journey and I am VERY comfortable NOT being a member of a church and giving my money to any establishment. I am also VERY comfortable when I am in the company of otherly religions and believers. I find other religions facinating and I can't get enough of learning about them. I work in the funeral industry and I always look forward to being a part of a service for Buddists (I humiliated myself in front of a monk once

!) and to do Orthodox and Catholic services as well (my firm happens to do predominantly Protestant and non-denominational). I've been in the building for Druz services (they don't like women on funerals)and have been around LSD and JW as well thus far. I LOVE my work and every single opportunity I have to work with everyone. The differenter from me and from what I think I know, the better!
Sorry, I have to do it...Call it flogging a dead horse, but I just found this and it is completely relevant to this thread.

"Without a doubt the mind of God is everywhere in pure consciousness and in the individual consciousness of all living things. The spirit of God is the principal partner in the human compound of body, mind and spirit, but it is usually ignored because it does not come across as the voice of authority especially to those who like things cut and dried. Organized religion is the voice of authority and it can meddle, tinker and mean well, but to break up old patterns of thought and behavior, we need to open ourselves to new possibilities. With the highest exercise of our intellect we know the purpose of our existence and can proceed to live intelligently according to it, if we direct our physical and mental activities to the pure consciousness of God. We know we are on the right path because God's pure consciousness makes cheerful every action and person contacted. Once we are in touch with the spirit within we can offer more to others, religion or the church."
There is no evidence of "God". End of thread.
There is no evidence there isnt a "God". Game on.
Sorry Bible a theist was going to post it anyway.

Haha. And then I say, and there no evidence there is no spaghetti monster... Your turn.
They would then agree with you because they feel the FSM is a mockery of God.

"organized religion" exists because of the fantasy called "god". Therefore discussing wether or not the mythologies surrounding the fantasy are a fraud is redundant.

Yeah...right and wrong are learned behavior, as right and wrong are based on your cultural background and societal morals.
As for all organised religeon being bad and "a con", that is a little over the top for me. Yes, a lot of bad is done in the name of religeon and the "do as I say, don't do as I do" is very prevailent, there is quite a bit that organised religeon does in the world that is good. It really is based on a person by person/leader by leader basis. Many are good, many are bad, and a few are down right crooks. Thats humanity for you.
Wrong, religion doesn't do anything good for the world. It's only a selected people who do good in the name of what they think there religion preaches. The same good others do without the need of religion. The church asks for money, and stacks it up. Hell they even ask for there priests money and all his belongings after he dies. Let's face it, organized religion are just a bunch of crooks. If the god was all mighty and existed, what need would he have for money?
Human beings need money, and that is why it is there. So those at the top can benefit from it. The day the pope dishes out his wealth that he sits on and gives it to charity. Stops whiping his ass with 100 dollar bills and donates it to a family in Africa. I will take back that statement.
Organized religion spawns a bunch of nut jobs, that is all I have seen it truely do. Worst of all, almost all organized religions preach about the end of the world and having it as a good thing with god beaming them up or some shit to heaven. So again you got all these religious nut jobs praises the end of the world which is why I really like it when they don't get any government power expecially the positions where they got the ability to launch nukes.
Organized Religion is the very definition of ignorance, they teach you about the creation of everything and everybody follows it without asking questions or proof. Now I know why Jesus called all his followers 'sheep' in the bible.

You should see how religion benefits a mother who just burried her son and many wives who's husbands I have had to cremate for them.
For SOME people in some situations at some point in time, organized religion is and will continue to be a net that catches them when nothing in their realm of current experience makes any sense or feels even the least bit safe anymore.
Regardless of whether YOU agree with it or not, for a moment it is providing something to someone in the most private and desperate recesses of their soul.

If people werent emotionally and intellectually crippled in the first place by bieng told fairy tales their whole lives they might be able to concoct a soothing philosophy all on their own. Except that in the absence of a steady diet of bs stories about angels they might come up with something more adult that jived with a little thing called reality.
I mean what, so you think atheists and agnostics never lose family members?
