The bible is not based on fact, so it cannot be used as evidence.

   

   

She is sighting scripture as evidence that the end of times is nigh. I might as well use Harry Potter to prove that dragons are real.

   

I think a whole lot of historians would disagree with you on that statement. As well as myths, it contains the oral history and traditions of the Hebrew peoples.

Ahem,

1) There is no conclusive evidence that Jesus of Nazareth was the son of god, or that he did exist. A person named Jesus may have exisited and he could have been a motivational speaker, but to prove that he is born of a virgin, is sort of a god and that he came back to life after being tortured to death, your going to need more than just bronze age text.

2) Women have also been persecuted, so have homosexuals, ect... what's your point? If the persecution of jews was not in the Bible would it be untrue?

3) The Church does exist, I never said it didnt, I see several when I drive around.


The only comparison I made to Harry Potter and the Bible was that you cannot turn to either book for factual evidence on anything relevant.

Alot of these extremist nations wish to fulfill the desire of Hitler and wipe the Jewish people and state off of the face of the earth... Yet so many of you poke fun and joke...

A. Look up Bronze Age..only the Old Testament occured then.
B. Well nice of you to label the beliefs one billion people irrelevant.
C. The fact that nothing relevant happened for you, doesn't mean that educated people find relevance in what it discusses, from a scolarly or historical viewpoint. I'm sure that your birth, life and death will have far less impact on the world than a semi mythical rabbi's birth, life and death did.
