An eye for an eye leaves us all blind.
While I am very sympathetic to this woman, I cannot even begin to fathom how any civilized country could even consider mutilating people as a form of state sanctioned punishment. Surely we are better than that.
We are. They aren't.Take a look at the heading which states Terhan Iran, which marginalizes your statement about a "civilized country".
If this woman is lucky, she won't be flogged before a public stoning for bringing charges against this man.
Yeah I know... I guess what I'm saying is this is something of a test of how civilized a nation is. I keep hoping Pakistan etc will rise to the challenge. Sadly more often than not they don't.

They got it and so did I. You quoted a nice line from the movie, but it's a proverb that was around long before Gandhi (if he ever even said it all) or Richard Attenborough or John Briley or Ben Kingsley. No slight on Gandhi...a great character in history and a great film.

I've seen spheres with sharper points than you.
I think the funeral scene still has the record for largest number of extras.
Should we be surprised that this is happening in a socially medieval state, mired in a medieval religion?

I thought the Longest Day had that record?

So its better she takes the blood money ?
I think 'justice' in an Islamic country is something far too alien and brutal for any of us sat in a comfortable, free and democratic country to fully grasp.

Yes. The problem is that if you go to an Islamic country and ask them to explain the difference between LAW and RELIGION, they'll stare back at you with a blank expression.

I'll have to look into it....
Guiness book of records says the film Ghandi is the current record holder with aprox 300,000 extras for the funeral scene.

In India that is considered immediate family!
