PP is going to love this.
New thought - axe the tax on home heating and farm fuel. Rebates only to those who live let's say 60km of a major center. IE if your postal code is within the 604 area code you get dick.
I haven't driven in 5 months, but I still get my $900 a year rebate. I'll spend it on bus passes and the occasional cab. Maybe a new bike.
‘Termination shock’: cut in ship pollution sparked global heating spurt
Particulate from burning fuel actually affects the planet because the tiny particles block sunlight, and can trap heat. Because 'cleaner' fuels were mandated for shipping traffic, and reduced shipping because pandemic, the reduction in pollutants caused warming the following year, making 2023 the hottest year recorded.
This is why many are against climate engineering on a planetary scale.

TLDR he is right and plating trees to correct for climate change will be as effective as our current recycling regime.
The flaw with planting trees has always been; seeds to grow the trees aren't easy to come by. They already plant so many trees to farm every year, and that is stretching the production system tight. Another trillion trees is night impossible.
A problem that has been in the works for over a lifetime will not be fixed overnight by a cheap shortcut.
It won't be fixed by expensive solutions either. It could have been fixed 30 years ago when Hansen showed us that this was coming. Solutions now can only be economically catastrophic.
Perhaps it will usher the post money, post capitalism phase of our society. And that is just, as it was capitalism that insisted on lying about the issue in order to maintain profit margins. It's true, they will sell you the rope used to hang them.

Earth broke heat records 12 months straight
It took 150 years since the industrial revolution started changing the climate, it will not be mitigated overnight. In the mean time, there will be huge costs associated with the effects.
