Everything is a cyberweapon. Grinder was a cyberweapon, until it was disconnected from its Chinese owners.

But no one cared about that.

See, Trump was right for once. It is fixed, just not in the way he wanted.

Right-Wing Media Are in Trouble

$1:
The Daily Caller lost 57 percent of its audience; Drudge Report, the granddaddy of conservative aggregation, was down 81 percent; and The Federalist, founded just over a decade ago, lost a staggering 91 percent. (The site’s CEO and co-founder, Sean Davis, called that figure “laughably inaccurate” in an email but offered no further explanation.) FoxNews.com, by far the most popular conservative-news site, has fared better, losing “only” 22 percent of traffic, which translates to 23 million fewer monthly site visitors compared with four years ago.

A simpler explanation is that conservative digital media are disproportionately dependent on social-media referrals in the first place. Many mainstream publications have long-established brand names, large newsrooms to churn out copy, and, in a few cases, large numbers of loyal subscribers. Sites like Breitbart and Ben Shapiro’s The Daily Wire, however, were essentially Facebook-virality machines, adept at injecting irresistibly outrageous, clickable nuggets into people’s feeds. So the drying-up of referrals hit these publications much harder.

Outrage bait is being demonetized on the main platforms. This isn't just hitting the right but the left as well but the right is hit harder because their entire media setup since the Drudge report is based upon click-bait headlines and creating an outrage buzz.

You can only stay angry without a purpose for so long. Perhaps they realized that.

They have been unplugged from their amplifier. Their only purpose was to antagonize for clicks but in the same way Trump lost a great deal of his sway with the daily political discourse after being banned from twitter, these outlets have lost their market and have never developed the tools or the discipline required to access them fully.

They are doing media on the cheap, they were made soft as others do the hard work of word of mouth legwork for them. They have become accustomed to cheap and massive access to large parts of the active online community. Expecting gatekeepers (in the name of a world wide town hall) to be begging for them to spread whatever they want for content quotas.

They are naked propagandists and the new yellow journalists. Even the richest people in the world can't get their message out for them as they reek of naked partisanship and that is only attractive to zealots who have turned their back on reason.

The problem with being a self sustaining silo of lies is that when the other liars you cite to give weight to your lies finally collapses, then people either stop believing the lies, or see behind the curtain and realize they were lied to all along.

I love to see it. I think these entities are responsible for the political division we see in society right now.
