I'm tired of the Olympics already. I turned on NewsWorld last night hoping to catch a good documentary...there are the freakin' Olympics. I flipped over to Discovery. Jay and Natasha were yakking about the Olympics and promised more of the same tonight. I asked a friend what I should write about this week and he said, "How about athletes from poor countries who move to rich countries to compete in the Olympics."

The games haven't even started yet. A race hasn't been run, a discus hasn't been tossed, but there's nothing on TV but the friggin' Olympics.

I'm just watching to see how many will be caught doping this year. I wonder if big names will come out. Plus the bathing suits...

One American runner, Two Greek all big names in there owned right and that’s before the games open. Will Canada survive I have heard that one of our boxers was nabbed.
Come on World cup!! At least there they all take something so the field is level and on one is checking.

Sorry Rev, but I love the Olympics. I'm watching the opening ceremonies as I'm typing this and I tell ya, every time our Canadian men and woman walk into the stadium, it gives me goose bumps and I'm so proud of them all no matter how they finish. Oh how I wish all the political crap was taken out of the Olympics and people looked on them in the spirit for which the games were intended.

It's not the Olympics themselves that bother me...I can, and do, just turn to a different channel if I don't want to watch whatever sport is on.

It's the hypeeverywhere that gets to me. I like watching documentaries on NewsWorld. I like watching science shows. I like watching things about ancient history. The Olympics roll around and suddenly those shows are all gone and instead there's some quasi-sports news show on the Olympics. It leaves those that don't want to watch the Olympics...who are trying to change the channel...no place to turn.

I dunno man, I woke up watching the ladies beach voleyball. They should have the olympics every year. Novelty would wear off, only one channel would broadcast them. And get to wake up watching the ladies beach voleyball every year.

Sounds like you'd be a big fan of the Boom Boom Volleyball game from Mini Clip, Mario. 8)

I find it rather refreshing! with all the crap “reality shows” that are airing.

GWN_Ronnie @ Tue Aug 17, 2004 11:26 am

Well, all this Olympic coverage only happens for a couple weeks every 2 years.

I like watching a lot of the 'learning channel' shows that come on NewsWorld too Rev, but I'd gladly give them all up so that I can turn the T.V. on anytime and catch the latest Olympic news or even watch whatever sport is on.

I really only watch gymnastics or archery every 4 years so I don't miss my regular T.V shows too much

Besides, when do you get to see a guy in a tutu and clown shoes?

Rev_Blair @ Tue Aug 17, 2004 5:02 pm

$1:
But to play down the police presence the officers will be dressed in the bright multi-coloured shirts worn by volunteers.

Maybe they should dress them in clown shoes and tutus.

Well Blair,

I sent an email to your local cable provider to put the Olympics on every channel, but only on your TV.......

I watched that ladies beach volley ball too.........those pretty and very fit girls are .....so.....agile......

Rev_Blair @ Tue Aug 17, 2004 7:17 pm

I actually just watched an hour of the History Channel and the only mention of Greece was the Oracle at Delphi and excavations on Crete. My faith in the medium of televisions is restored...at least for the time being.
