That's true. When I see interviews with Cleese I'm always surprised how perceptive he is beyond the comedy. Douglas Adams was like that too.

Al Franken was talking about the Fifth Estate show on Air America this morning. He likes it.

Bill O'Reilly is pissed right off. Apparently it irks him to be revealed as a liar. Of course if he didn't lie constantly, that wouldn't have happened. He's on the warpath now though. That freak Marsden was on his show too, helping him lie. It's fun to watch them squirm like criminals who just got caught red-handed.

Johnnybgoodaaaaa, I don't really believe all astrology is bullshit and that all a priori knowledge is bullshit. I was trying to put that tongue in cheek, but its a hard thing to do on the internet. Maddox does the same type of thing and doesn't really care about most of his writing, he just has a sense of humor about things. Either way, I used to follow astrology quite closely for awhile, believed the possiblities and got nothing from it. Maybe someones belief in it gives it that power over them, I don't know. Its worth looking into as are all beliefs and such.

On the Vietnam thing, Canada didn't send in any troops but a large number did enlist in the U.S. army. I've heard numbers as high as equal to the number of Americans who dodged the war by coming to Canada.

Bigboy @ Sat Jan 29, 2005 12:07 am

from what i read shes wrong, the letters sent to familys show the canadians that died were in the US military. other then that canada helped make "war material"
so canada never sent its military in.

and about Bill O'Reilly and fox, everyone knows what they are, on any other news network that lied like that has had to fire people, he'll never be fired because you have to be an idiot to believe almost anything he says. to bad you couldnt have a real conservative news network. oh well everytime they open there mouths new liberals are born

Johnnybgoodaaaaa Johnnybgoodaaaaa:
Well that is your opinion. I find that I am quite a libra. I don't go around claiming to be spiritual or anything, I just read some stuff on the libras attributes, and find that I come pretty close to what it says. I always try to look for balance in things. Horoscopes I don't really believe that much in, but do you really know what is going on with the world and what beyond what you percieve as reality? Why are there stars, why are there planets, is there life out there or are we alone, etc. I know not everyone is going to believe the same things, but science is only one outlook on things. Science tells us that the stars are one thing based on perceptions of our reality, but why are there stars is another question that science doesn't seem to answer. Why is there a universe? How do we know that being born at different times of the year don't effect us? Also, you can be a certain sign, but depending on the time of your birth and the date, your astrology chart can have different influences. I've taken an astrology chart thing and I found that it was wierd how close it was to how I often act and think. Of course, I'm always trying to examine myself and how I think, and think over decisions I've made during the day to try and understand myself(of course do we really know ourselves?). You know what they say: it's under peaceful conditions that a warlike man sets upon himself. I've seen some people who have gone about astrology thinking it's all bullshit, and they get nothing out of it, and then I've seen people with an open mind give it a chance and get something out of it. Everyones different though, but I think that maddux guy is full of shit.

Blah, Blah, Blhahahhhhhhhhhhh . Blahwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa you talk shit but dont prove shit.

Canada never sent soldiers to Vietnam, Godz. Coulter is wrong and you are wrong. Some Canadians who supported the war joined the US military and volunteered to go to Vietnam. They were, apparently, braver than you are, although just as misguided.

Gonzo @ Sat Jan 29, 2005 12:46 am

That’s what I said at the beginning of this thread. I don’t think Godz reads the posts. He's a good example of someone who only gets his information from bias people who don’t check there facts. I guess Fox and right wing propaganda are a true danger. People actually believe it. You can’t underestimate (or misunderistimated if your a Bush supporter) the stupidity of the human race.

Rev_Blair @ Sat Jan 29, 2005 1:32 am

The funny thing is how they refuse to admit it. Coulter said it, so it must be true. It doesn't matter how many facts we present, Godz will believe Coulter and O'Reilly. It's a bizarre way to act, but the radical right does it every time. Look at their record:

Evolution...Nope, they don't believe in it. Commie scientists are trying to warp their children.
Environment...A plot by communist scientists to steal all of their money.
Global warming...made up because the communist scientists hadn't stolen their money yet.
WMD...Must have been there, but they were moved...possibly by those sneaky communist scientists.
The Osama/Saddam connection...There had to be one because they both have dark skin and funny accents. We're not sure how but those communist scientists must be covering it up somehow.

It's really just a purposeful stupidity driven by ignorant anti-intellectualism and unthinking greed.

Godz46 Godz46:
Actually Colter is right:http://members.tripod.com/~Canadian_Vietnam_Vet/CanVetIndex.html

Coulter: "Canada used to be one of our most loyal friends and vice-versa. I mean Canada sent troops to Vietnam - was Vietnam less containable and more of a threat than Saddam Hussein?"

McKeown interrupts: "Canada didn't send troops to Vietnam."

Coulter: "I don't think that's right."

McKeown: "Canada did not send troops to Vietnam."

Coulter (looking desperate): "Indochina?"

McKeown: "Uh no. Canada ...second World War of course. Korea. Yes. Vietnam No."

Coulter: "I think you're wrong."

McKeown: "No, took a pass on Vietnam."

Coulter: "I think you're wrong."

McKeown: "No, Australia was there, not Canada."

Coulter: "I think Canada sent troops."

McKeown: "No."

Coulter: "Well. I'll get back to you on that."

McKeown tags out in script:

"Coulter never got back to us -- but for the record, like Iraq, Canada sent no troops to Vietnam."

Canadians did fight in Vietnam but that is not the same as Canada sending troops. That's the same as saying the troops in Afghanistan involved in the war on terror now are in Iraq, nonsense!

Actually in Levant's book, he states that Canada DID in fact send some kind of regiment to Vietnam (Special Forces) as part of a "training program". They were also some troops serving on exhange programs between the two countries. The US sent them there, the Canadian Ministry of Defence knew about it, but raised no objection whatsoever. They also took part in many non-military projects to assist the government of South Vietnam.

I have had friends and family in the military. I cannot provide proof. But, it is commonly accepted by these people that Canada did secretly sent Special Forces in an effort to gain an understanding of the sort of warfare in Vietnam. Canadian troops were not accidentally there because they were mixed in with US troops. Canadian troops were deliberately placed there by our DND. Sorry I can’t provide proof.

Dan74 @ Sat Jan 29, 2005 4:36 am

The figure is about 30000 Canadians served in the U.S military to fight in Vietnam but there was no actual Canadian military personnal involved with fighting the war.
I hate agreeing with rev but his history is right on this one.

canadian1971 @ Sat Jan 29, 2005 6:41 am

Hey REV...This is off topic but THERE WERE CANADIAN TROOPS IN VIETNAM! They were labeled "non-combatins" but they were there...I met one..works at Mt royal College in Calgary..he was wounded when his chopper hiy a tree top and crashed..He told me that Canada cycled through a full divison in vietnam...I cant remember what reg. he was with...Ill ask him on Moday and let ya know!
