Imperial America
Here is an interesting article I found:

The United States invaded a distant country to share the blessings of democracy. But after being welcomed as liberators, U.S. troops encountered a bloody insurrection. Sound familiar? Don’t think Iraq—think the Philippines and Mexico decades ago. U.S. President George W. Bush and his advisors have embarked on a historic mission to change the world. Too bad they ignored the lessons of history.

That's nice. So where are we now? Not even a comparible article. It's always ugly in the beginning. You read one thing without analyzing and think "that's the way it is!" Mexicans are rushing in to come to a better country. We are peace with both the Phillipines and Mexico. What world do you live in?
Just because George Bush loves his country and cares about his country he is a killer or something that you lunatics on the far far left in canada and europe believe!
i am a democrat............and i am not that stupid
its like saddam is a good person to you people!!!!
Being willfully blind will not help you guys to make a case here.
American Patriot ...Saddam was an evil man who had to be removed. Most Canadians realize this. This is not the contention of the argument. All Bush had to do was wait about six to eight more months and the UN would have reached this consensus.WMD's or no WMD's the world would have removed him. There would have been a unified international force...of the major players. This would mean a larger policing agency, thus less destruction than we are seeing now. Less US troops in harms way. The Iraqi government would have a greater sense of legitimacy.
I agree with you, there is a lot of American bashing on this site. I was born Canadian and I live in America and I now love both countries. This does not mean I turn a blind eye to what Bush is doing.

God, I'm tired of "schooling" you kids! Read up on the UN Resolutions that were mandated back in the 80's & 90's! Why must the UN have waited 8 months or so to act on a country who has been violating these resolutions for over a decade? What do you idiots not understand that, "We're not waiting any longer for the UN to slap some more hands?" And we're not waiting for world approval, who approved "military force" if the resolutions were broke. We were sticking to the resolution! It clearly stated, "REMOVE BY FORCE!" If anything, Americans should be ridiculing the world (UN) for not backing up what they mandated. We wouldn't have terrorism (worldwide, not just in the U.S.) if countries would reach down and make sure they still have a pair of balls! The world will never be united! So all you peace, love, STD's, HIV, hippy loving countries suck it up, and grow some backbone!

well then by all means get out your guns, boys. The fight ain't over
Should be interesting to watch Dubya try his "shock and awe" on Ariel though.

And yet not one of those "resolutions" (been through this before there from the General Assembly hence they are not biding) makes any demands of the "Palestinians". Why don't they condem Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Arafat or any of the other terrorist groups hmmm. Could it be that the UN is filled with anti-semites who are pleased whenever a busload of Jews get blown up.

You may have noticed that these fine fora seem to have acquired of late a population of its very own anti-semites. They come in various guises yet all spout the love and affection they hold for the infitada, the martyr brigades, the semtex vest wearing children and the United Nations. As usual some are more vocal and outrages than others, but they're here.
A word of warning however (needless I suspect but anyway) re what appears to be a modicum of support and sanity as you peer at the ME situation through apparently clear specs - you will no doubt incur the curr and cur-like wrath of those hard left nutters who pollute forums here, there and everywhere - the very ones who can't see the forum for the fora, or something like that. . . . .

Pole, if you look at the bottom of the PDF file I linked you'll see that it is not a complete list.
Big Dub... its not a matter of the world being united. Its about honoring treaties and agreements.
Why are there terrorists ?...because people are trying to force their beliefs on others, because people are poor, because countries decide they can oppress others, etc. If terrorism was the issue...why not ensure Afghanistan was stable first? If terrorism was the issue Why not N.Korea instead of Iraq?
The reason that we needed to wait for the UN was to help in policing Iraq when hostilities ended. It would have also reduced casualties.
It seem to me you said you were 28. You claim we have no backbone. If you believe in your ideals so vehemently, why aren't you in Iraq?

Zen,
(1.) It doesn't matter why there are terrorists. (Who cares why "terrorists" become "terrorists") You just don't go around killing innocent people because of govts. or not liking one's beliefs. RIGHT & WRONG... That's what it comes down to. I can't stand half the shit that my govt. does or you hateful Canadians, but I'm not going to run around trying to kill everyone! Common sense buddy!
(2.) RWANDA!! The UN was in charge of that, and they were getting slaughtered! Why use an organization or (with their help) that cannot even protect itself? Americans, truthfully want no part of the UN anymore. It's a "human resources" front for top countries. Now they're going to be exposed for "Oil for Food" scandals. The UN cannot police itself.
(3.) I served 4 years in the Marine Corps Infantry! (1994-1998) I spent a year over in Baharain guarding the rooftops of U.S. Embassy. It was common to react to bomb threats, and explosions accross the city. After 9/11, I was more than willing to to re-enlist! But you try telling your wife & daughter that you want to re-enlist to fight a war. I give credit and support to those who did enlist or re-enlist with families! You can criticize or question my integrity & pride all you want, but that's what I had to decide.

I am not a hateful Canadian. I am proud to be Canadian. I am also proud to live in the US. I may not have been born in the US, but it is the country I chose to live in.
You brought up terrorists. Terrorism is just wrong. Killing the innnocent does not serve anyone's cause. I applaud your willingness to serve your country. I also respect your decision to stay with your family. I find it strange however, that you would wish to see your comrades in arms in harms way. I wasn't criticizing your integrity or pride, I was merely trying to understand your position. I find it odd, that you think you're allowed to attack Canadians on their pride, yet invoke the same "pride "as a defense.
The UN lacks the funds to deal with Rwanda partly because countries (US included) have stopped contributing their dues. What's your solution, the US withdrawing from the UN? Suppose that happened. The UN headquarters would have to be relocated. That would put a serious drain on the New York economy. Just what they need.
If you think there is opposition to the US now... What if countries to which America is in debt to start calling in the loans as a retaliatory measure. ( this I suspect, is what Bin Laden had hoped would happen. He did major in economics.) The best way to help prevent that, is, honouring the treaties and agreements we have made through the UN and ones we have made witthout the UN. Yes, the UN needs to be changed, it is not perfect.
Do not misunderstand... I never said that I wish to see ANYONE in harms way. Any Marine (Cannot speak for Army, AF, or Navy) will tell you that we were trained for combat. And on any given day are prepared to protect or die for any other Marine, the U.S., (and in some cases) the good of another country (even Canada, if need be.) Marines are prejudice but loyal. I know this may sound arrogant, but we are even prejudice against the other Armed Forces. If you've ever served or known a Marine, then you know the experiences. I've traveled the world, and am very appreciative for what I have here in America. It's unfortunate that most Americans take it for granted.
