John Brown University says students must sign a community covenant, meant to encourage Christian living. The college says they knew about Michael Guinn`s sexual orientation when they accepted him to the school. The school says that`s not why he was dismissed. Instead, they say he didn`t follow a part of the covenant that says he won`t dress in drag. The school says another student alerted them of a website where Guinn`s posing in pictures dressed in drag.
Like John Brown University, there are seven other private schools in the state that can draw up their own rules.
At Harding University in Searcy, the school prides itself on incorporating Christian values in the classrooms and on campus.
Students there must sign a form stating they will refrain from alcohol and smoking, and they can not engage in sexual immorality, which includes homosexual behavior.
"It would certainly be frowned upon not only socially, but as we are a christian school, it would be frowned upon in the bible," said Harding Sophomore Corwin Brown.
Meanwhile, Hendrix College in Conway is not only a liberal arts college, but the word liberal takes on a different meaning.
The school does not have a prohibition on sexual activity, and there is a homosexual student group called Unity on campus.
I think calling it perverted is wrong. But its a private university and he signed the code so its his fault.
He has to play by the rules too.
Maybe if he begs the Pride Foundation he can get them to give him a full ride scholarship elsewhere.
I have to agree, it is his own fault if he knew the rules when he signed up. I think it's the same kinda thing when woman get pissed off that they can't become members of "Men only clubs" . Makes no sense to me at all, why would you want to go there in the first place except to get your face in the news. He should go to school were they don't have these rules, simple.
hey I don't find it perverted. whats perverted is people who try and look up peoples skirts or people who look at child porn. or people who think about sex all the time. Some guys dress up as women for jokes
I guess it's like most other college policies, abide by their rules and regulations when you sign on the dotted line. Sex should not be prohibited on any campus!
what is filthy sex? Getting off after you've been doing manual labour or spring cleaning?
geez maybe all schools including universities should go back to uniforms . why is it that with little kids dress code never creates problems but as they get older fashion statements hit the fan on each other even as bad as what type of running shoes , hell theres universities where students would wear nothing if they could .......<did I just say all that
