Lily: I wouldn't mind if Walt Disney won I just think that warm and fuzzies aside, some other candidates had more humanitarian and political achievements than Walt.
JFK was one of the most popular American presidents. He had a far reaching appeal both on American soil and overseas. Gotta love him. He was definitely one of the most beloved (and coolest...and oh yeah hottest! presidents) in our history. FDR, however achieved more politically (brought us out of a great depression, successfully ran 3x and was faced with WWII), but then again, he had a longer time to do all that

I'm kidding, the guy who'd REALLY get my vote would be Abe Lincoln. He gave the blacks freedom. Another good choice would be George Washington because he helped found the U.S.A. with the other founding fathers.
Very True dude, I wish I could vote for more than one because there are so many great Americans.
On a side note: If Dubya wins the title, I'll have lost faith in the American people. Although I doubt that that many people would vote for him, it's still a scary thought......*shudders*
yeah, I'd be dissapointed if Dubya wins, but I'm starting to believe conservatism is in style now....first Dubya in 2000, then Dubya in 2004, then Benedict XVI today.......yup!, I think Dubya's got this one in the bag <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008_ZNxdm824YYUS' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_9_2.gif' alt='Teary' border=0></a> <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008_ZNxdm824YYUS' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_1_72.gif' alt='Too Funny' border=0></a>
Martin L. King perhaps? GW wont win it..
Of course he won't! Unless the only other competition is Dr. Phil McGraw (shudder!) or well, Kerry (Hehe). But ya never know.....(mwahahaha!!!!)
Dr. Martin Luther King, a man who not only espoused but lived the values Christians, Jews, Muslims say they represent. And tragically died for those heartfelt beliefs.
are pretty great just as most Canadians are pretty great. Americans just aren't so good at electing good leaders. I think Goldie Hawn is the greatest American: she has the greatest butt anyhow.
Chris Farley! Oh, how I miss his work, lol.

I would find it hard to choose 1 man as the greatest American. Some of my favorites would include George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, Teddy Roosevelt, and Henry Ford. There are so many others but I don't want to get carried away. Some of the names that made that list are just plain ridiculous and are only there because they reflect the pop culture of the time of this poll.
