Getting harder to post anything! She's gonna pop!

And no lifeboats. Any suggestions?

Contact Trevor?

Scape @ Thu Nov 02, 2023 5:01 pm

Meh, I'm sure he knows what he is doing. Right now DDOS attacks in general are going to be high so there isn't much that can be done besides unplug the server and periodically restart it.

Because CKA doesn't use encrypted HTTP, it makes me nervous every time I have to re-log in. Passwords can be intercepted, and if any Mod password is compromised all hell will break loose.

...changes password from 123456 to something like ABCDEFG...
:P

re-log in :?: I haven't needed to do that.

Seems ok this morning so far.

I seem to have to do it whenever the server starts thrashing like it has been the last couple days. It just might be that the cookie expires too.

Strutz @ Mon Nov 27, 2023 1:25 pm

Tried to post last night and got an error msg when trying to submit.

So slow today it's painful waiting for pages to load to even view.

Paging Dr. Trevor... paging Dr. Trevor...

At this point, I think he's just a myth.

bootlegga @ Mon Nov 27, 2023 5:32 pm

Would archiving some of the old content (say pre-2010 or something) free up space and make CKA less problematic? Or is this some other issue entirely?

DrCaleb @ Mon Nov 27, 2023 6:27 pm

It's likely another issue, unless someone is searching old threads all the time.

Seems we are operational around here again...

Might as well delete pre 2010 posts and all user inactive over 1o years. It's just a forum not the Library of Congress.

I think we've talked about this before. There are tons of members with no posts at all so kill those for sure. There are sections under the "content" tab with no activity for ages. I recall someone saying this won't make much of a difference though.

Trevor... if you pop in please do something about the slowness of the site. It's super discouraging and driving away members. I sure miss the days, even when posts got reported, as at least it was when more people contributed to discussions. I have checked out another site from time to time but the hostility in there is a bit much.
