Canada Kicks Ass
Canadian Forums Statistics

I have a thread in the moderator forum where I periodicly check the current post totals of simularly themed Canadian forums. I do this to see where CKA stands, because I love stats and i'm kinda competitive.

For some random reason, I decided it would be fun to enter in this data into an excel spreadsheet and make some graphs. I hadn't used excel for some time, so took my awhile to remember how to do some things.

The spreadsheet has the monthly forum post totals for each time period I recorded data. I then plotted this data to see the growth rates of the forums compared. I also made a future trend based on this data to see at what point in time, CKA would overtake the largest forum.

But the more useful and relevant statistic is the "Average Growth per month", this shows how active a forum is. This graph clearly shows CKA is on top, horrah!

Also i was wondering if there is any excel gurus, I couldn't figure out a smart automated way to find the average of the differences of a set of numbers.

Example:
100
130
150
200

The average increase is something like 36.
I thought I had it with the "AVEDEV" funciton, but the numbers were off. I ended up doing it like this "=AVERAGE(B6-B5,B7-B6,B8-B7,B9-B8)" which is not too automated.

apparently the forum attachments didn't like XLSX files, so I had to add the filetype. The download should work now.

link works here, its Excel 2007. If you have an older Excel you can download a free update so your Office can read the new document format.

I wil re-upload the file in the old XLS format.

But you might want to download the patch, i'm sure you will run into the new file format more and more.
