$1:
Allows users to give reputation points to each others, earn it by posts and by "living" on forum, see the history of givings. Admin can edit users' reputations in admin cp. The whole system can be a text or a graphic version (5 different medals) and simple or advanced version (with choosing of how much reputation to give).

Might be a cool thing to add, some other forum software has this type of thing built in now.
Only negative I can see is it will add more database queries to the viewtopic page, but should only be a couple.

Ya do, I noticed it on another forum. Would be a cool idea.

Yes! R=UP

Good Idea

I like this... especially if it can be linked somehow to the post rating system. That never seemed to take off....

CapeApe @ Tue Feb 13, 2007 7:13 am

I think its a great idea...bring it on

I would love to say yes to this Trev but with as free wheeling as this place gets, I know the right wingers will up fellow cons and neg liberals and vice versa.

I am not saying all will. But I think enough that it will tend to scew the end results.

I too belong to another forum (gasp!!!????LOL) that uses it, but that is a community of folks with one thing in common and where politics is just barely tolerated and threads on religion and race not at all. We spend all our time discussing the Tippmann A5 paintball gun and PB in general ;)

The only thing we make fun of over there is the old guys..........like me.

But hey, it's your part of the net, if you want to, then go for it! Will certainly be interesting ;)

No. Slashdot-esque karma bombing is likely to ensue. Negative reputation is likely to be used as shorthand for 'i disagree with you'.

GO FOR IT ! Should be interesting

danikyvor @ Tue Feb 20, 2007 12:58 am

Well....I don't know.

I agree with Wullu...

I say no, BUT how about the next time this site needs a new moderator we let the people vote for them? Kinda like our own CKA democracy lol....we could even do platforms and stuff running up to the election day ha ha!

jazzman @ Tue Feb 20, 2007 3:10 am

I think it's kinda cool. i say go for it man.

Canadaka @ Thu Feb 22, 2007 3:03 pm

Wel since there a fair amount of votes for no, I will hold of on it for now, but its still on my list.

Canadaka @ Thu Feb 22, 2007 3:45 pm

you know I don't know, I should look into that.

As someone who'd certainly collect some bad rep points from IceOwl and maybe a few others I'm just not seeing the benefit.

Anyone who's been around here long enough will be able to determine for themselves who is reputable and who isn't all on their own.

Frankly, the best indicator of someone's rep to me is that little Gold Leaf by their name.

If you care enough to supporty the site then that's about all I could ask of your reputation. Left or right, that little Gold Leaf says a lot to me.

I disagree with you, I have donated in the past, but can't afford it now. Am I a worse member than you?
