I am starting work on an overhaul to the news system and homepage, as I mentioned in another thread. I want to get user feedback on what changes are made.
Currently there are 2 spots one can read the CKA News, the homepage and the dedicated news page http://www.canadaka.net/news_links
This is a lot of duplicate content, the homepage is pretty much a copy of the news page, making the homepage news centric. But I have been thinking about possibly making the homepage more of a summary of content rather than the content itself.
More in the format of the large national newspaper websites, where there is multiple columns with boxes showing the newest stories for each topical area. Its just an idea i'm playing around with.
How many people who read the CKA news use the http://www.canadaka.net/news_links page? Or do you always use the homepage?
Should I maybe go the other way and make the homepage almost entirely news focused?
Me neither. I like the idea as well.
I hardly eer use the news page mainly for the reason you just mentioned, all the news is on the home page anyways.
I can't say I use the newslink. I like the idea of an all news page.
I'm here for the forums, and generally use google to find news.
However, I totally support and understand that in order to take this website in a good direction, you may not chose to have the forums on the homepage. It won't stop me from coming to your website.
bump
I like the site way it is now.
My only problem with the news on the home page is that when your excellent, highly motivated, dedicated and extremely hard working news moderator takes a few days off to go on a little bit of a road trip it seems the whole news system falls apart...
I think it should be forum centric, that's where the fun is at. IMO
