They're not obligated to advertise with you, Elon. That's how their free speech rights work.

You just know that this 'feature' would probably cost you 59,99$ a month.

Platforming dumb, pointless comments designed to provoke fights and make the world a much worse place than it was even the day before is Twitter's only product. And Twitter's sole purpose for existing too. Ad revenue to keep the lights on is just a beneficial side effect.

I don't think you know what product is. Product is something you buy. You don't pay to tweet. You pay to be seen by people who tweet. The people who use twitter, and their attention, is what is being sold. Not the ability to tweet or not tweet.

Elon/Taibbi's "huge revelation" about Twitter censoring the idiot story over Hunter Biden's laptop turns out to be another waste of everyone's time, even right-wingers think it's nonsense...

https://www.thedailybeast.com/deeply-un ... s?ref=home

$1:
Elon Musk hyped the release of bombshell revelations Friday about Twitter’s controversial decision to restrict stories about Hunter Biden’s laptop on the platform, but the leak was a resounding flop with many right-wing pundits.

“So far, I’m deeply underwhelmed,” Sebastian Gorka, a former Trump administration official turned right-wing radio host, said. His comments came after journalist Matt Taibbi released a lengthy Twitter thread detailing Musk’s touted findings, namely that Twitter executives themselves were at odds over whether to restrict the Hunter Biden reporting and that Democrats (and Republicans) filed moderation requests with the social media giant.

“We know the Dems in DC collude with the Dems in Palo Alto [Califonia]. Big Whop,” Gorka added.

But the right-wing host didn’t leave it to just a single post. He continued by doubling down when pressed by MAGA diehard followers who were convinced the “Twitter files” promoted by Musk were a smoking gun.

Responding to a Truth Social user claiming the Twitter company emails were “a clear violation of the 1st Amendment,” the radio host fired back: “Err no, it’s not the DNC asking a private company to censor has nothing to do with the First Amendment.”

The back and forth ended with Truth Social users accusing Gorka of being “deep state.” (The radio host failed to address questions on the matter sent to him by The Daily Beast on Friday night.)

Likewise, New York Post columnist Miranda Devine—one of the first right-wing reporters to begin writing about the laptop—told Fox News host Tucker Carlson it wasn’t the “smoking gun we’d hoped for.”

“I feel that Elon Musk has held back some material,” she then alleged, claiming sinister forces were perhaps controlling Musk after the Twitter chief took a meeting with Apple CEO Tim Cook earlier in the week. “In particular, there’s a tweet in which Matt Taibbi says he hasn’t seen any evidence that law enforcement specifically warned off Twitter from our story. But that’s just not correct.”

Others echoed similar sentiment on the political right.

“Twitter files [are] underwhelming so far. Just revealing what we already knew: Twitter was staffed by democrats who did the bidding of Democrats,” Free Beacon reporter Joe Simonson wrote.

Far-right Twitter rival Gab went a step further by attacking Musk. “Elon dropped this total nothingburger Hunter Biden story, which revealed nothing new whatsoever beyond what we have all known for years now,” the company wrote on Telegram, “to distract from the fact that he suspended the biggest cultural superstar of a generation for going on a podcast to say he loves everyone.”

Technically, Seb Gorka is deep state. Deep fascist state though, given both his family background from Hungary and going by the nature of the presidential administration he worked for. But it's all meaningless. And James Woods didn't get his free speech rights violated when he got suspended for posting a pic of Hunter Biden's dick. He got suspended for a while because he posted material from a hacked source, which is pretty damn illegal just about anywhere except on the dark net where the vomit people dwell.

All meaningless. And any of us are discussing these things end up getting that much dumber just from talking about it. It's like a bunch of people clustering around a dog turd on a sidewalk and getting into fights over the quality of its texture & firmness. That's the depth of what Twitter, and Facebook, and most of the rest of the internet have contributed to humanity.

It's really sad what's happened to Taibbi. He used to be a really good reporter, especially when it came to the perfidy of Wall St. But now he's turned into another Putin dick-rider like Glen Greenwald.

Scape @ Sat Dec 03, 2022 6:19 pm

Taibbi always struck me as someone who marched to his own drum. Clearly this is carrying water for the other side but the response is lukewarm at best. I think he is just being naïve and following his own principals dogmatically. Now we see how Glenn got to where he is. Let see if they figure out the 1st step to getting out of a hole is to 1st stop digging.

I'm disappointed in Taibbi, and have been ever since he went on Real Time last year with a bunch of "there was no Russiagate" bullshit. Maybe his exposure of Wall Street might have been his sole career home run, and the rest will be just mediocrity for him until he becomes a reliable regular on The Five or Gutfeld.

I never respected or liked Greenwald. His hagiographies of Assange and Snowden were fairly disgusting to me. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if he's a genuine Putinista at heart, given that he opted to totally ignore who Assange and Snowden were either associating with or directly working for in Russia. He's like a journalistic equivalent of Oliver Stone, so fixated on one aspect of something that he ends up missing out entirely on the bigger picture surrounding that which he's obsessing over.
