Is it? Are they?

Not that I don't believe you Doc, but let's check that claim out with what's in the body of the piece.

Quote:
Now compare that to what the government now says is their main objective for gun control — “banning military-style assault weapons.”

Public Safety Minister Bill Blair said during the election that the government plans to outlaw a number of guns and buy back as many as 250,000 rifles from licensed gun owners at a cost of $600 million.

Think about that, we have a problem with illegally smuggled handguns being used to commit crimes and the government will spend near double buying back legal guns than they will spend on dealing with crime guns.

Looks to me like they're right. The title looks accurate. Trudeau is spending double buying back hunting rifles over dealing with crime guns.

I think they are going to have a very difficult time with this. Gun owners are sig more organized than before and I am hearing allot of talk about non compliance etc.

Hmmn......misleading title or not it says much that Pinocchio is more interested in targeting guns than in the real problem which is the gangs who everyone knows will find a way to obtain illegal weapons no matter what the government decides to ban. And spending twice the amount? So fiscally responsible these lefties. /s

Gangsget half their weapons from so-called hunters who can’t secure their legal weapons or who sell them on the black market so it’s misleading tosay this doesn’t fight gangs.

It would be appropriate if you actually had some facts to back up that claim, Beaver - which obviously you don't or you would have posted at least one link. Fail.

I must have missed all the news stories about gang shootings in downtown Toronto that involved shotguns and rifles that once belonged to the devious hunters & farmers who are doing illegal weapon sales.

The last time I looked the illegal gun market was still >96% smuggled from the US and most of the once legal firearms that were used in crimes were stolen; and most of those were not restricted.

So really you have no real argument to make. I can't remember if there was an updated report but the one I saw was from 2015.

Bullshit..

Some real facts here.

Thank you for that, Pluggy.......some people seem to think that stating something makes it a fact - nice to see that they can't get away with their lies.

I do? I know the Firearms Act (1995) very well. "Military Style Assault Rifles" are classed as "Restricted".

Quote:
Permitted purposes for ownership

There are a few purposes for which you may be licensed to acquire or possess a restricted firearm:

target practice or target shooting competitions
as part of a collection
in limited circumstances, use in connection with one's lawful profession or occupation, or to protect life

http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/firearms/c ... s#restrict

Notice, hunting is not there?

Quote:
(Note: legally, restricted firearms can only be discharged at shooting ranges; so while one can use them in competitions, one cannot use them for hunting)

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firearm ... _in_Canada

So Trudeau, by confiscating AR-15s etc. it does not affect Hunting or Hunters.
