After giving up the opening goal.....again, the Canucks came back with a goal by Ben Hutton, followed by a goal by Brandon Sutter 10 minutes later to take a 2-1 lead into the 2nd period, then into the 3rd. Pittsburgh then tied the game with just over a minute left to play in the game leading to OT. Brock Boeser scored his 2nd goal of the season 34 seconds in to give the Canucks their 3rd win in a row. It was a strange game with Edler taking a penalty in the 2nd period followed by coincidental penalties 8 minute later, the only penalties of the game. The Canucks were outshot 26-28 and killed off the only penalty of the game, putting them in 7th place in penalty killing in the league. Vancouver's next game is in Winnipeg on Thursday.

After killing off the last 12 or so penalties the Canucks gave up 2 PP goals en route to a 4-1 loss to the Winnipeg Jets. Vancouver's only goal came at the 12 minute mark of the 2nd period with Bo Horvat scoring his 4th of the year, tying the score 1-1. The Canucks were out shot 32-27 and were 0/2 on the PP while the Jets scored on both their PPs. The Canucks end their first road trip of the season with a 3-3-0 record. Boston at Vancouver

Bruins (4-2-1) at Canucks (4-3-0)

Defensemen Charlie McAvoy and Kevan Miller won't play because of injuries when the Boston Bruins face the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena on Saturday.

The Bruins called up defenseman Urho Vaakanainen from Providence of the American Hockey League. The 19-year-old will make his NHL debut against the Canucks.

McAvoy leads Bruins defensemen with six points (one goal, five assists) in seven games.

"McAvoy yesterday said he wasn't feeling right so we contacted our medical staff back home and he's on a plane today to undergo some tests," Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said. "It's a vague answer because I don't know what is going on. Charlie just said he wasn't feeling right so we wanted to make sure he gets looked at."

Miller blocked a shot with his hand during a 3-2 overtime loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday.

"We'll know in a few days what the X-ray shows and whether they cast it or he has to miss time," Cassidy said.

The Bruins have lost two straight after winning the previous four.

Goalie Jacob Markstrom starts for the Canucks, who are 3-1-0 in their past four games.

Bruins forward David Pastrnak has 11 points (eight goals, three assists) in a six-game point streak.

Canucks forward Bo Horvat has two goals in his past 3 games.

Pettersson will miss his third straight game; he skated before the morning practice for the first time since being injured against the Florida Panthers on Oct. 13.

When it comes to scoring the opening goal, the Canucks are 100%.....on home ice! Unfortunately, when on the road this season they are a dismal 0/6.....Brandon Sutter opened the scoring 3:40 into the 1st period, his 3rd of the season, the only assist going to Jake Virtanen.

The Canucks are perfect at home and also perfect in OT. Bo Horvat scored at 3:12 into the OT period to give the Canucks a 2-1 win over the Boston Bruins! The Canucks held a 1-0 lead thanks to a 1st period goal by Sutter. Boston tied the game at 7:45 into the 3rd, leading to OT. Shots on goal were 31-22 in favour of the Bruins who were held to 0/3 while on the PP and the Canucks went 0/1. Tonight's game was only the 2nd home game for Vancouver and the 2nd time the game went to OT, the Canucks are now 2-0-0 at home and 2/2 in OT. The next game for the Canucks will be on Monday when they host the 2018 Stanley Cup winners the Washington Capitals.

After not being able to watch the last 2 Canuck games it was great to watch tonight's game!

A good win by our guys tonight in OT. I love the 3 on 3 format as it's exciting to watch.

They always talk about Brock like he's slower than he should be then they tell us 3 on 3 favors speed.

In the last two 3 on 3s Boeser's had a goal and an assist. How do they explain that, those smarty-pants?

Oh and whether they give Bo the C or not, he's the Captain. It's too obvious.

Washington at Vancouver

Capitals (3-2-2) at Canucks (5-3-0)

The Washington Capitals will try to tighten up defensively when they play the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena on Monday.

Washington, which is beginning a three-game Canada road trip, is coming off a 6-5 shootout loss to the Florida Panthers on Friday and has allowed 18 goals in its past four games (1-2-1).

Goalie Braden Holtby, who was pulled after allowing four goals on 11 shots against the Panthers, will start for the Capitals.

Vancouver is 4-1-0 in its past five games, including a 2-1 overtime win against the Boston Bruins on Saturday, and will start goalie Anders Nilsson, who is 3-1-0 with a 2.26 goals-against average and .925 save percentage.

Canucks forward Bo Horvat has scored three goals in his past four games, including the overtime winner against the Bruins.

Pettersson, who will miss his fourth straight game, skated with the team Monday for the first time since he was injured against the Panthers on Oct. 13. Coach Travis Green said there is a "good chance" Pettersson will travel with the team for their two-game road trip Wednesday and Thursday.

Vancouver at Las Vegas

Canucks (5-4-0) at Golden Knights (4-4-0)

The Golden Knights have won three straight games after losing their previous three.

Vancouver has lost two of its past three after winning three in a row. Rookie forward Elias Pettersson (concussion) will not play and second-year forward Brock Boeser (groin) is questionable. Each traveled with the team to Las Vegas.

Boeser and Pettersson both took part in Vancouver's optional skate

Canucks forward Bo Horvat has three points (two goals, one assist) during a three-game point streak.

Chris Tanev will play in his 400th NHL game tonight.

Once again the Canucks gave up the opening goal, this time just over 1 minute into the 2nd period. The lead for the Knights didn't last long as Horvat scored just 3 minutes later, followed by his 2nd of the night 1:04 minutes later, his 6th and 7th goals of the season. Vegas tied the score 2-2 in the 17th minute of the 2nd, the score holding to the end of the game. Neither team managed to score in the 3-3 OT period. The shoot out went to the 4th round before Marcus Granlund scored to give the Canucks their first ever win over the Golden Knights. Vancouver was out shot 35-26 and held Vegas to 0/4 on the PP while the Canucks went 0/2. The Canucks will play their next game tomorrow when they visit the Arizona Coyotes, ending this short 2 game road trip. Tonight's win puts the Canucks on top of the Pacific division, just 1 point ahead of Anaheim and San Jose, who have a game in hand over the Canucks. They are now sitting in 5th place in the Western Conference.
