No, you pissed me off with your overall attitude and your tendency to assimilate every Quebec frenchie under the banner of "whiny anti-canadian bitch". Not just in this thread.

I'm not pissed off by the fact you say French is dying, and that it's unimportant, Hell, I know that, I didn't even try to deny it. What I don't like is that you seem to think the fastest we disappear, the better, and that even though we still exist, that's not much of an issue. That's what annoys me, and I know it certainly would annoy any Frenchie who'd read your posts. Note the plural.

Yogi : What do you mean? I'm kind of hesitating between two possible meanings here.

Well I'm new to the forums but i've been visiting this great site for quite some time.

I'm from the Pontiac region in Québec, but I'm no separatist. Here's some info on me:

I belive in Socialism and Communism

I respect every politician because all of them have a least one great idea(even the conservatives  )

I think our current government cares a little too much for the USA

No matter what is our faith, color, way to dress, way to live, we are all CANADIANS AND WE ARE EQUALS

I think poeple need to realise that we can make this country even better then it is

I like spending time in the woods just like a lot of you, so lets be good to the environment

We need to put education and healt care top priorities

I like green tea, french fries, mangos, rasberry pie, steak, and lets not forget beaver tails in the winter

Well, with that said i hope my views will be respected because i respect all of yours.

excuse any spelling errors, I'm french. (and learning german, it rocks, give it a try)

Vive le canada

WAY! I like this guy!

Strange... for a country with 2 official languages that is not manditory to learn both...

I was taught Dutch, English, German and French... Not fluently of course, but the basics are there :?
Why? we live in a free society, and as long as we learn one of them what's the big deal?

I just don't get that not even 1 year of French classes is mandatory. You learn the basics, and it always comes in handy. English is one of the world's leading languages, and almost everyone knows a bit, and here it is mandatory in highschool. We get exams in it, but some people never leave Holland. Still they know English. Why shouldn't French be mandatory? I like it when tourists here speak Dutch... But Germans don't speak a word Dutch... French people only speak French, but I am proud of the fact I can make myself understood in at least 4 languages, just because I'am taught.

By the way, New Brunswick is the only official bilingual province... That means Quebec is officially French, and a few of you are always bitching about that. Wonder why? And I don't mean politically :? Maybe because you just don't understand?

Sure it is, I took French in grade 8 and dropped it right after. I kind of wish I hadn't but oh well.

ROTFL Well that makes sense!

At least the basics are taught. I think it is important... A lot of people speak French, half of Africa speaks French... But I see you get the choice to learn it. I noticed Canadian schools offer French immersion. That is being taught in French all day, right?
(man, am I off topic here... Sorry Nick!)

Yes french immersion is complete French in the classroom all day. It's very popular in BC.

I don't want the French language to die out. If you got that, I am sorry. But I am stating that it is.

It is. I took it from grade 4-9.

Regardless of your politics, it is considered rude to come into anothers 'home' and speak in a language that they don't understand. To continue such practice and you could end up being ignored completely!

Just so that my meaning is clear.
I took French in school
My 2 oldest kids were in French immersion for years
Their mother is French
My 2 youngest kids took French all through school

It cannot be said that I have anything against 'the French' (not including my ex)!lol

I am saying however that, in general, CKA is an English speaking forum. So in kind, when participating in the general discussions, please stick to English as that is the 1st language of the majority here. If you wish to converse in your mother tongue, then start another thread 'for French only'.
To do otherwise, you run the risk of being ignored and may find yourself 'on the outside looking in'!

I think that we, french-speaking canadians, understand that this forum his
used by a majority of english speakers.

But lets have some respect, because both cultures are great and us wanting to
preserve our héritage francophone dosen't mean that we hate people who only speak english
I can get down with that. [BB]

Looks like a Socialist and a Conservative finally agreed to something
I can be nice, it just takes some prodding. :)

why 'for French only'??? would you ignore it even if you had something to say, just because your 1st language is English???
If that were interesting, I would try to read it at least...
