Seen some nice bucks(5 and 6 point mule and white tail) the last month working near your neck of the woods. Every day I see the same bucks, let me know if you want the township and range road numbers.West of big valley on Skodopoles ranch the deer are plentifull and grain fed. Not sure if that's your wmu.

$1:
elk 2 hours South near Wainwright (general archery this year!!!)
You must live near cold lake.

I'm as close as you can get to Cold Lake without actually living in town. Little hamlet called Ardmore. I can actually dress in the house, put my bow over my shoulder, and walk to my tree stand. Rural Alberta rocks :D

I'm in the same situation chopper, except I just have to jump on my atv and ride down the road about a half a km and I'm hunting. Living in the sticks has it's advantages.

I agree. I was in Chiliwack for a while, and I could see myself settling there...if only you guys had some life sized deer living there, it might be worth it

didn't hunt up north much did ya chopper. I've taken a few 160+ class Mule bucks up here and sceen quite a few that would go much larger.

No I didn't. I was in the field in William's Lake (Chilcotin training area) most of the time I was there, and all I saw were scrawny little white tails. Lots of bears though! To be honest, I didn't even know there were mulies in BC. Coming from Ontario, the first mulie I ever saw was in Wainwright, and I thought it was an elk!!!

one block quad ride for me and the deer are in my yard nightly. Now I shoot with a camera instead of a rifle.
Working around Stettler and the Coronation area now and I have to ask. Where did all the freaking hawks come from? Seems like every second power pole has a hawk perched on it.

Yup. Didn't you know that a bear's kill zone is the ear? A properly placed shot will down a grizzly in seconds. Not to mention, it doesn't ruin any meat (only the most die hard hunters eat the ears anyways) and you don't get any holes in the hide for the taxidermist to sew up.

Coronation is nice country. Loads of deer eh?! Camera hunting is fun too. I carry a camera scouting, and I've got some nice pics of critters while I'm sitting a stand I plan on hunting in the fall. Hawks or falcons? I've seen millions of peregrine falcons in the south lands. They used to breed them in Wainwright, and they are all over the place there too.

Maybe they are falcons. It's all new country for me.I saw three coyote's chase down an antelope a few weeks ago near Trochu. The antelope was a mile from them when they started fanning out, like they knew where it was going.Pretty cool.

I think I was meant to live in Alberta. Or at least during hunting season!

14 SLEEPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, any of you guys ever used that new Predator Camo? I just brought some into my shop, and it looks pretty good.

QBC @ Thu Aug 11, 2005 8:30 am

Not a scrawny whitetail here chopper.......

Lot's of big Mule deer around here. I've taken some rather large buck right around that training area you talked about. Just have to look for them in different places than you would for a whitetail.
