Calgary shelters, services struggling to keep up with rising demand, advocates say
Sriracha shortage: What you need to know
I love pineapple on a pizza. Sweet fruit and salty ham together. Add some black olives!
But avocados have no flavour. Why ruin perfection like Key Lime pie by polluting it with the green monsters?
Just kidding. My dad loved sweet and sour's and would cook some up pretty often for dinner. Pineapple and meat is good... but not on pizza.
I thought you were going to complain about fruit on Pizza, then I'd have to remind you that tomatoes are fruits.
Actual grocery supply chain cause:
If any of you didn't know, at your local supermarket the staff does not order and stock an increasing amount of things. In an effort to union bust, cut payrolls and reduce staff the suppliers now do the actual stocking of shelves.
The Coke guy, the Pepsi guy, the Old Dutch and Lays chip people, sometimes the bread person does.
How does that affect supply? Firstly, those delivery guys were also screwed over. They get not so much of a penny more for not simply dropping off in the back of the store, but putting the product out as well. Supposedly to ensure their outfit was properly positioned to maximize sales (fuck pricing - it's placement). So does the Coke guy give a fucking shit if the 12 cases of Coke Zero sell out within an hour? OF course not, he won't be back for at least a couple days, doesn't get an extra nickel to give a shit about asking how long it took to sell out or if he should increase the stock. Of course not. Why would he make even more work for himself and get nothing? He only care is maybe having to carry the expired stock away, that's added work so slow sellers are often shorted as well.
Second, there's still a department manager but fewer actual workers in that department. The managers are just as fucking lazy (even more so) than the hourlies. Doesn't need to give a shit if there's no more Sprite Zero, sugar free Iced Tea, white bread that's advertised on sale or Hickory Chips. Not his problem. Complain and they'll tell you so = it's the OTHER GUY - we don't DO that anymore - the next truck will be here the day after tomorrow.....
Hell, there's a THIRD. It IS in stock, but neither you nor an employee will get on your belly on the dirty floor or climb up the shelves and look to the very back of the rack to look. It's far more important to cut staff than it is to do "facing" anymore. Hell those people who were in every aisle making sure the goods were in the front where they could be seen with the English side showing - that was your Grampa's day and age.
And now they want you to do self checkout too. Yeah, be thankful of how much we're 'saving' pumping our own gas....
Sorry, just came back from our half sized, half stocked, half staffed SaveOn. Thought things might change from when they called it the Overpricey, but not for the worse.
Costco sizes at 7-11 prices. We shop there because we have to
When I worked mids as a meat cutter, there was a whole entire staff that stocked shelves and made sure that when the store was open the aisles were stocked and free of boxes so when the store opened that it was ready for the day.
Now, people work all day long, stocking shelves. Filling the aisles with pallets, and you have to wait 10 minutes for the thing you want to be brought out. The union has lost 50% of it's members, because the stores don't give a shit.
