The rails would cost more then all the roads. In central Alberta there's a small town every ten miles and lots had rail service untill it became uneconomical.

URBAN rail is what needs investment - where it would yield the highest return. Read my quote again, carefully.
I'm not suggesting to build high speed subway service to Churchill.

I looked in the mirror, and it had a note taped to it saying "BartSimpson is a weak-minded moron."
I don't need a note to remind me that you're a narrow minded, powerless excuse of a man.
I need only read your vacuous posts to see that.
It has been my long time criticism of you that your posts are generally void of any argumentative substance.
Lots of insults and lots of buzzwords interspersed with quotations, but no original ideas.
Seriously, you can string a sentence together and your website evidences a reasonably intelligent person - how about if you share all of that with us?
Derby and you, for instance, are mostly on the same side of the spectrum yet he can formulate and articulate his ideas clearly and he can suppport his arguments with concepts and facts. He at least has my respect even though I agree with him as often as I agree with you.
If Derby says that Bush is a moron, for instance, he cites reasons and facts to support that opinion.
I can respect that. And then he can discuss the ideas without launching into invective.
You, on the other hand say things without explaining why you're saying them. And then you flame/insult anyone who questions your wholly unsupported opinions.
You're more intelligent than that.
BartSimpson BartSimpson:
...You're more intelligent than that.
No, I don't think so...
I love it when Leftists call Bush a moron.
Because that 'moron' defeated them twice in elections.
Which means that, for American Leftists, anyway, they don't have the capacity to defeat a moron. Twice.
He also got the war he wanted out of them. And brought back the economy from the 2000-2001 recession.
Pretty canny for a moron.

My bad,I would love to see rail service again.Where's Don Getty when you need him? One of his election promises was to pave every secondary road in Alberta.Good thing we stopped him before he got carried away.

[quote="BartSimpson"]Derby,
But what if the USA acts to destabilize Canada if it is to the perceived advantage of whoever is in office?
What if? I agree with most things you have said again Bart nothing new there. Some people are a little sensitive and don't care to think about what you are saying. I would like to to know why you don't think that Wheat,, Hydro, Softwood lumber and Beef to name a few are not forms of destabilization.
Fourty seven percent of Americans believe they all ready have a base on the moon. need I say more as to the level of education of the population that listens to Tucker, and refers to US AS RETARDS.

Perhaps they are. I had never thought of it that way.
Well done on the observation.

All true.
If Al Gore and John Kerry were such geniuses and Bush is such a dolt then why is Bush the President and they aren't?
As you point out, they can't be all that bright if they had their asses handed to them by a 'moron'.
A friend of mine emailed me this article, and I have to say, the first thing I thought was 'Good lord, CKA forums are going to go crazy over this' lol
(I'm a Canadian living in Scotland)
I sent it to a couple of my coworkers and their reactions were great! I won't repeat them here, for the sake of starting a flame, but let's just say that the Scots understand the relationship between Canada and the United States, it's quite similar to the one they have with England, without the thousands of years of history.
Anyway, I've spent the last half hour reading through all the posts relating to this, and it's been a good laugh!
I shudder at the thought though of Canada being broken up and assimiliated(?) into the U.S.
And my thought on the urban rails? We've got them already in Calgary and Edmonton and they're not that great. But weather plays a huge factor in that too. I lost count of the times the Ctrain in Calgary got laid up because of snow or something or other in the winters.
Hmm.
Oh, off the record, I just want to say that I saw the Cross Country skiing from Canmore on tv here a couple days ago and I waved to everyone.
Oh AND for my secret santa at work this year, someone made me a canadian survival kit with a bottle of Moosehead beer, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, a Hershey bar and a book on Scots English words. LOL

I don't want to be arrogant or anything but... Do you guys realize that you have the best neighbor you can have ? Go ask Israel just for fun if they would like to take your place and vice versa ? While there is no country on the surface of this planet that doesn't hate you, you guys act like if you have friends to spare and god knows you don't.
I know Bart you are not sharing their opinion, but as a Canadian I try to understand the motives beind these actions and can't find any.
