Marlboros are the best cigarette on the planet (I'm chain-smoking them right now). The US Constitution is right up there with the Magna Carta. Thompson, Ivins, Chomsky, Moore and Franken are all Americans. Kodachrome, even in the age of digital. Tom Waits. Bob Dylan. The Texas Jew-Boys. Steve Earle. Plentywood, Montana. The Nation magazine. Jack Daniels. Road America.

There are many reasons why I think the US is still worth saving. If I didn't, I wouldn't argue for it.

Canada:

More informed citizenry

Far less violent crime

Better reputation overseas

Vast onspoiled wilderness

Better public education system {that's not saying much though! :p}

A better health care system for those that otherwise couldn't afford it

More actual separation of church and state

A less sexist society than the U.S.

U.S.A.

A more racially and culturally tolerant society on average {believe it or not}

Better looking women

Far more excitement, energy and sense of purpose

The average American has a far more positive attitude

More opportunities of all kinds

A choice of climates ranging from arctic to tropical

Far better access to goods and services

Less government breathing down your neck in general

Lower taxes - this is much better than it sounds, believe me

Better health care system for those that can afford it

A cultural, economic and military power second to none, Canada? not so much. :lol:

Far less of the kind of regional favoritism that plgues Canada

mike2277 @ Tue Dec 30, 2003 8:55 am

I believe Mark Twain observed that Canadian women, as a group, were so attractive that "it was a relief to see a plain one once in a while" :D

mike2277 @ Tue Dec 30, 2003 9:22 am

Unlike some European countries I could mention, the personal hygiene in North America is above reproach. 8O
