ShintoMale ShintoMale:
is it odd to be complaining about anti-Americanism on a CANADIAN board?

Fifeboy, read the entire topic, Mr. Canada conceded he was wrong. And I did apologize for starting with more emotion than I should have, but he was wrong to add stereotypes on the United States, which I stated what was pissed me off, and to calm me down, that just came to my mind, in full knowledge that A)I do not know the author, and B) That was the first thing that popped into my head when I read his name. Was it dumb? Sure, but the entire skit was dumb, which made it funny as hell.

And no its not odd. Irrational hatred of anything is dumb. Be it of America, or religion, or Conservatives, or Liberals, or Canada, or anybody else. You can hate the US all you want, but irrational hatred, using stereotypes, is disgusting, wrong, and a disgrace to any true anti-American. Calling atheists immoral, evil, bigoted Communists, and that' be both a stereotype and a bigoted remark, just like Mr. Canada's statement about the psychotic gun culture, yada yada yada, that he also stated.

We talk about many things on this Canadian board. Many things that aren't Canadian. Canadians don't just like to talk about Canada.

Holland has a looooong history and a huge culture, and all we are known for, is dikes, tulips, prostitution and drugs... Now how sad is that?

You forgot windmills!

Yeah I had to do that.

[BB]

To proud histories and annoying stereotypes!

RUEZ RUEZ:
I'll put this question to all the Canadians that come to this site. Were you under the impression that the Netherlands had a deep respect and admiration for Canada due to our actions during World War Two?

I did until I went to Europe in 2005. I travelled in the Netherlands, Belgium and France (touring war memorials like Vimy, Juno Beach, etc), proudly wearing a Maple Leaf on my lapel and it didn't get me anything extra. No extra curtesies, special thank yous, free drinks, or anything else. Still, I had very few difficulties of any sot while in Europe, so I have no complaints.

Frankly, I didn't expect any, but reading the newspaper here sometimes, we think that those in Europe fall down and worship us for liberating them from the Nazis. Personally, I think the newspapers here blow it out of proportion, just like they used to make such a big deal out of peacekeeping and international aid.

The sad reality is Canada is a blip on the world stage. We simply are too small a country for most to take notice of. And lacking a distinctive accent, we usually get lumped in with the Yanks, which is why we're so touchy about them.

Thank you Boot. You pointed out exactly what I was trying to say. Too bad people don't believe others who LIVED there for years.

I'm sure McDonald's would beat Timmies hands down.

I actually find McDonalds coffee better. But I wouldn't know behind the scenes of McDs, so I have NOOOOO idea. Being a "baker" in Timmies wasn't fun, especially in the bullshit store they put me in. Dangerous conditions...

Ok we may be on the same side politically but McD's coffee is the worlds worst. The only coffee worse than McD's was the crap they served us in the field from the hay boxes.

I happen to have worked at McD's and think the same about their coffee. But I love Timmies coffee. And believe me I am a coffee conneseur, although I can't spell it.
But I just want to bomb the Baldwins anyway. Especially that twit Alec. XD
