Canada is the same. We have no culture, except a few quirks...
It's too bad you feel that way. Luckily many do not.
Actually, I think Canada has a great culture. Not in the way Europe has, with their old and ancient buildings, but Canada sure has a culture.
And, on average, very friendly people, respect for eachother and respect for nature, a beautiful country, and people who still care about their neighbours. Even in the city.

Brenda Brenda:
So, to go back to the topic, what is your first thought about Holland?
Lemme guess... War. Talking about ignorance. Windmills. They hardly exist anymore. Tulips. They are originally from Turkey.
Anything else?
Oh, and what about the US? That was what the topic was all about...
My first thought about the Netherlands is about Dykes and land reclamation. I know that they've been dealing with that for some time. And yes windmills would come to mind as well because they are entrenched in the history.
So you only know some of the history...
Too bad

So Holand doesn't respect us like it used too... Honestly, that didn't hurt me and my pride as much as it seems to you others.
Bugger off, my pride isn't hurt. It doesn't matter what other countries think about us I'm just voicing my surprise that what we've been led to believe is seemingly untrue according to Brenda. If she is correct it doesn't change one ounce of my life.

Jesus Effing Christ guys.
So Holand doesn't respect us like it used too... Honestly, that didn't hurt me and my pride as much as it seems to you others.
Worry about Canada. Love Canada. So they don't like us, that's their issue. They are the one's under-educated about us.
I could easily Put "The Netherlands" in place of "The USA" right now. Don't BOTHER. Yes, they should respect us. Yes, they should learn about us. No, we shouldn't care that much. It's done.
Euhmm, that is kind of a strong conclusion...
You Canadians

should respect the US too, and learn about it.
It is not "they don't like us". It is : they don't think about it. Do you think about Europe, other than a holiday destination? Why should people think about Canada other than a holiday destination?
Brenda Brenda:

Brenda Brenda:
euhhmm, YOU mentioned And not in November.
Yes, I mentioned it wasn't November because you seemed to be of the opinion that that's when the Dutch showed their appreciation for Canada. I was pointing out that that wasn't the case.
$1:
You guys are asking for eternal gratitude for saving our asses in the war. The US did a great job then too. I cannot say that people are sure grateful, but don't think about it that much. In daily life, people don't give a shit. When you mention Canada, (like I said before) not the first thought is WAR! GRATITUDE. The first thought is Cold, Clubbed baby seals, Igloos.
We're asking for eternal gratitude? huh. I could swear we were showing a little awe that after all these years the Dutch still remember and care.
Apparently we were wrong, because you quite obviously speak for the Dutch.
$1:
Sorry. Life sucks when the truth is hard.
Your truth isn't
the truth.
First of all, I never metioned November. I mentioned May.
Yes, when you look for it, you will find it.
Go visit Holland, ask around what the first thoughts are about Canada. My truth is more truth about this matter than your truth. At least I can speak from my own experience, with parents who survived the war.
Man it's to bad my old man is planted in the Field of Honor here, I should go over to his grave, dig him up and whisper in his ear your disrespectful comments to him. I think I could get him to rise up from the grave over the bull shit your spewing here Brenda. Holy fuck Brenda, I never realized that you belonged to such a disrespectful generation. What’s your grandparents think of Canadians?

Oh yeah, we're "nice"...
It's our cultural icon, you know. We are a polite, smiling, loving, happy, optimistic bunch. Woot.
I wish there was more then that to define the "average Canadian". It would give me more confidence.
You should be fuckin proud of it. It is not something I can say about Dutchies. Dutchies are rude. What would you be more proud of?

My grandparents are long gone.
Disrespectful? Sure. Whatever. So you want eternal gratitude, don't you? I explained what Holland does to remember the war. NOTHING. 2 minutes of silence, no day off on remembrance day. Did I do that? Did I think about that?
Personalize it to me, I can handle it. Moron. I ain't talking bullshit. I wish I was. Why the fuck do you think I moved?

If you turn your rep back on, I have 5 points I'm itching to hand out.....
Well ty Lily, but like medals, rep points don't do nothing for me. Give them to a Vet. But again thank very much.

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:
Aight. Snappin'.
So you agreed you're being a retard by playing on US stereotypes?
$1:
Oh, I understand Canada and crime. And of course we should work on it (especially rape). And yes, I was, but that seconds thing was just for the purpose of denouncing the states, not suggesting Canada is any better in any category. Even though we are in msot of them, that's not the point I was making.
Denouncing the States? On what? That people commit crime? Crime committing isn't some US policy here. Its a people thing, denounce people.
$1:
And this doesn't happen elsewhere, eh? So what, stop Immigration? Intolerance, bullshit. The same shit you shit on me for. "Biased hate". Crack down on crime, not immigration.
Did I ever say stop immigration? Did I ever say it was unique to Canada? No. I didn't, but I'm saying Canada, once again, has its flaws, and flaws like people are something you can't really blame. You pointed out how blacks in America go to jails and such, but yet blacks in America somehow aren't creating their own state, and blacks in America aren't basically committing armed rebellion in the US. Both countries have unique flaws due to its past and present, but blaming the government or the land or stereotyping all of its citizens is flawed.
$1:
Did I say Canada doesn't have it? No. Please re-read my post. Thank you,

You used it to somehow discredit the United States. I used Canadian examples to prove that you're being a hypocrite.
$1:
Yeah, I said that. Thank you. "Can't we say the same for the Natives". Thank you for jsut skimming over my post. Or if you did actually read it, thank you for mis-interpreting most of it.
I was using it with your comparison to the black "ghettos" You're just missing the whole point.
$1:
Tell em where I have EVER said that Canada does NOT have problems! Tell me where I'm blind! LINK ME TO THESE POSTS.
I never said that you believe Canada is perfect, but the same problems you harp America for, Canada has the same, or similar ones. I'm saying that you focus more on the United States because you make these connections that the US is somehow worse because it had problems x, y, and z. That's what I'm saying. That your irrational hatred is flawed. That what you think Americans are bad for, an American can say the same about Canada.
$1:
The "fear" is Americanization. So some people want to see Tim Hortons owned by Canadians, what's the issue with that?
Oh come on, even IF this happens, how would that make the Timmies in Canada less Canadian. I mean hell, hockey is still Canada's national past time even though there's a shitload of US teams.
If you really think Canadian culture is so weak that one shitty coffee chain being US owned will destroy it, then go to the Canadian government and ask for Nationalization.
Besides the fact, Timmies sucks ass, Canadian or American or whoever else, the coffee is shit. So does Starbucks. I'll go for a home brewed cup anyday.
$1:
Understandable.
You say that, when you do it though. Hell I copied and posted that part about US being gun psychos, ideologically minded blah blah blah
That's my point. You're spewing ignorant crap about the US. Just like if an American said that Canadians are retarded lumberjacks living in a frozen wasteland in igloo huts with big fur hats, you make yourself, and this country look sad with that kind of badly informed opinion.
$1:
All I'm saying is that Canada, or atleast, Canadians, should worry about CANADA. And OUR ISSUES.
But I'm saying that our issues tie in directly with the United States. Commerce, culture, crime, immigration, travel, environmental, everything. That's what happens. You want to focus just on Canada, that's basically speaking like the isolationists. And we can't survive on our own. We have a democratic, free nation just south of us. There's no North Korea, or Stalinist Russia, or anything like that to make our lives a living hell. If you really hate the United States, instead of trying to just say bullshit, maybe working with them could improve both of us.

Are we the nicest in the world? We seriosuyl can't be the msot hospitable.
We have our problems too you know.
You know, Canadians greatly opposed the Peacekeeping idea? Fuckin' hated it... At first. But the world loved it, so our views did change.
We're also the nation that embraced the War Measures Act... martial law in Canada!
We aren't always kind and nice and happy.
And I don't think we can be the only ones.
If we're the nicest, I'm scared.

I am not saying "the nicest"

But you sure as hell are nice

And patriotic, and I like that. It is a good thing, that you ALL are against me, while I am playing Devil's Advocate. It shows "The Canadian". And for some, the disrespect of others opinions.
