That is true, CanAM... Whenever I mentioned Canada is not that important to Europe, I got a shitload of angry comments thrown at me. But hell, it is the truth! Canada is Canada, and beautiful. The US is the US and beautiful...

Canadians are patriotic people (at least, a lot of them ) and rightfully so. But geesh, why care that another country's people DON'T think another country is that great? Canada is important to Canadians, like the US is important to Americans.

You guys (Canadians) don't give a shit about Holland either, why should Holland think Canada is all that? Who cares anyway? Be proud of what and who you are, without talking down to, or looking down at other countries. THat is just not necessary to show your patriotism.

I think Canada is all that... But Dutchies (even my mom said it when I mentioned our possible emigration...) think of Canada as cold, Igloos and clubbed baby seals... They don't know shit. Just as much as you Canadians probably know about Holland.

   

   

So we are being misled when we are told that Dutch people have a fondness for Canadians due to our actions during the war?

   

How come? Just because of the war? That was 60+ years ago. People don't think about Canada or the war everyday. We can even have German friends!


The first comment I got when I mentioned Canada to friends was: WTH are you going to there??? WAY too cold to live!

Sure, Holland is greatfull, on Remembrance Day. But in daily life? People just don't give a shit...

   

Wow really? 60+ years ago. I guess Canada should stop going to events to memorialize Vimy and the nazi death camps and all the things we need to remember. Don't tell me Canada pays more attention to the World Wars than a country where the fighting actually took place.

Believe me, in daily life, people don't think about Canada.

Is that why America was begging, and asking Canada to get other NATO countries to get more involved in the war and was charged to get other countries to enter the war? Because I think if the US has better influence, or even equal and Canada diddn't have better influence over the world's countries. The US would have done that themselves. Let's face it, Canada has devoted it self to just causes. Peacekeeping, and fighting when the war is a just cause. Like the World Wars. America has spent way too long getting into trouble, and pissing off the entire world and treating everybody like crap to have much of a influence on the world. This isn't talking about American's, it's refering to the US Government. Although I get nothing but disrespect from many Americans, when I don't do anything to provoke it. Hell the reason I am part anti-American was due to all the anti-canadian Americans that I witnessed was I was growing up (Thank god for the internet back then).

Because we are happy as a Canadian, and we are tierd and don't like it when US insults our country that way. Infact you pretty much just summed up that insult. "Canada is not important to them". We only supply them with a lot of our Natural Resources, and power. Also a fair percentage in there wealth. We only help them during natural disasters and are a big part of NASA which you never hear about the Canadian involvements in it. Supply then with high tech gear to complete there missions, and asternauts. Yet these missions are always a "American Accomplishment". There is just so much credit that America steals from Canada.

Is that why American's get all pissy whenever somebody makes a American joke? You cannot say anything bad about America, not even if its a joke otherwise you'll face the consiquences apparently. I mean just look at the Canada vs USA jokes on this website and check the comments. Better yet actually go to youtube, and check US and Canadian Military videos and look at comments. I constantly watch Military videos on youtube, and I am disgraced at what I see. Constantly bullshit comments from asshole Americans trying to insult our Military, and Country. Yet if you go to the American Video's. You'll see some with some insults, but majority of the clean. There are no Canadian's or people from other countries insulting there Military, even though many people would love to. The Canadian Forces is only helping America with Afghanistan, due to them being attacked. Sure why not, poke some insults at our Military.

Sorry man, I have no beef with any Americans unless they insult Canada or Canadians. However I am deeply Anti-America as I think the American Government is the most corrupt and insane Government in the world and needs to be fixed.

That is exactly what I am saying.

Holland has NO day off at May 5th (liberation day), that was cut down to once every 5 years. Holland has 2 minutes of silence on May 4th, 8 pm, to remember the fallen. And that is it. Need I say more?

   

Brenda I don't think anyone here thinks that Dutch people spend every waking hour thinking about Canada. My understanding was that when people in the Netherlands thought about Canada it was with respect and admiration.

   

Why would you be in Holland in November?

Of course, come talking to Canadians, especially elderly, oh oh oh we are so grateful.

Go live there for a while, and you will notice, not everybody thinks about Canada, war or Canadians every day.

You can call bullshit on everything you want, but don't you think I know better than you, who has never been there?
