Why won't Universal Healthcare work in the United States?
Avro Avro:
Plus:
Life Expectancy in Canada is 80.1 years 10th overall and the U.S. is 77.71 years 46th overall.
Which says nothing about health care.
That statistic can be influenced by dozens of factors, such as lifestyle differences, dietary differences, the much larger American immigrant and low income communities as a percentage of the population, et c.
The ONLY thriving industry in Buffalo, New York, is providing health care to Canadians.
Wait for an MRI scan in Toronto? 7-8 months.
Wait for an MRI scan in Buffalo? 7-8 days.
Before the usual crowd of nitwits gets going, let me say that I am NOT saying that one system or the other is better, they just do things differently, and get different results.
As for the cost, what an American pays in insurance, a Canadian pays in taxes.

That means you should get off of your dead ass and get a job if you want healthcare and a 42" plasma TV with cable.
Don't worry Hoser he's just being a dick on purpose.....it's what he's good at. Surely Bort is smart enough to see the difference in what he just said and what you were referring to.....but maybe not.
I go for the maybe not, he suffers from selfishprickism, a horrid disease and it often aflicts Cons like him.
Hwacker is just a frustrated fagget.
Quality arguments, and tastefully presented.

Well you Americans are fat pieces of shit, so you could be right but if the stats showed otherwise they would be shoved in my face real quick ya little pile rat poo.
I guess your a frog too.

Nice camo. I almost didn't notice him.

It's sharing the pain VS greed. But never froget that in Warcraft Three, when you use Spirt Link to share the damage your units recieve, you always win.

Fine, and we don't want US style care. Your style gives better treatment to a few
No, it gives better treatment to
most, not a few.
That is incorrect. Pound for pound our system gives better care for your dollar.

Mmmm, the American health care system. If it were a person I'd beat the crap out of it. I was vacationing down there and happened to sprain my ankle pretty badly. It was $125 just to SEE the doctor. After, he figures I'll need an x-ray (also had to pay for) and then gave me some inflammatories and bandages (both of which weren't complimentary to say the least). At the end of the day I had shelled out over $500 getting care that here I could access for FREE!! Luckily I had travellers insurance but f*ck, Canada's system may not be perfect but at least we aren't a stupid bunch of douches.
If I sprained my ankle while I was on vacation in Canada I would have to pay out of my pocket also. So whats your point?

Your quotes for time wait for MRI are wrong. Wait times are far less then what I've seen quoted here. I never waited (beyong hours) for any care I needed and the peripheral care I got as soon as I made the proper appointments.
Our system is designed to provide a far greater coverage for all as opposed to the few who can pay for it under yours. We do indeed pay in taxes but since
I know your health costs are greater then ours (for the same treatment) based on staff salaries alone, we can provide far more care for the dollar then yours. Your system beats us in non-basic care but a good deal of that is our own fault. Too many people use hospitals instead of GP's & clinics which eat up resources that could be used for more quality care such as hip replacements or other such things.
I love that I never worry about cost when I go to any doctor or hospital. I just give them my health card ands its all good.
i dunno if this idea has been expressed yet, but i would imagine it would be harder to have free medicare to the American people is becasue theres a shit load more of them. Its what, 31 million Canadians to.....350 million Americans? But what you are going to do, it might not the be perfect system but i'm sure glad we have it.

It would cost you S37.50 CDN not $3000 USD. In addition, you would not likely be billed right away so you could always not pay, soemthing that happens alot at Canadian hospitals along the border.
