One day I was teaching some kids what the word foreign means, and gave examples like America is a foreign country, England is a foreign country, etc....One kid put up his hand and asked me if Canada is a foreign country.
No wonder Quebec has issues.
*sigh* I'm so glad my grandfather decided to leave Quebec when he did.

o.k. I support NAU, but I have always claimed NAFTA is the foundation to NAU. That is not support for "NAFTA" ?
You show me a post supporting "NAFTA". I support the North American Union if it does what it is suppose to do.
No I am not keen on NAFTA, it's a bad agreement that has screwed Canada.
We win court case after court case and never can collect.
The same goes for the heavy industries that rolled into Northern Mexico, dumped toxic waste, destroyed the environment, then left.
Mexico sued these company's but guess what/ no money.
We need a better agreement, the NAU may be that agreement.
NAFTA, however, we pull out, we pay fines for quiting. (Fucking Lawyers)
I pretty sure I saw soem int he "Is NAFTA bad for Canada" thread....
Hold on.....
Oh fuck it, I'm way to lazy. Couldn't even find that thread.
But....

Kill NAFTA or kiss our water, medicare and Canada goodbye... From the Canada Action Party.
Our distinguishing feature is that we have specific plans to implement our platform. In particular, on the first prong, we will abrogate NAFTA, and the FTA, stop negotiations on the FTAA refusing to enter same, and return to GATT for trade with the U.S.. On the second prong, we will reclaim the Bank of Canada using the legal power and authority still in existence to assume citizen control through government of our nation's money and debt, to return money to being our servant, not our master. No other party offers both of these solutions to Canada's condition. Both of these solutions are direct violations of the commands of the unelected, unrepresentative, undemocratic International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank and the WTO
SourceIs NAFTA this much of a Danger to Canada??
I thought you said the CAP was jsut a bunch of Liberal nobody's who were crazy and would never win an election because "they arn't serious"?
I love the quebecois language and culture. I love quebecois movies. I love quebecois women. Notice we no longer refer to them as French-Canadian, it has become an unused term in Canadian English.
I'm not going to stop if and when they leave Canada, because the name on a piece of paper is not going to change who they are. The day before a referendum and the day after a referendum they will be the same people, with the same language, culture, and personalities.
That being said, I am not looking forward to being here and living through the upcoming provincial election in the Spring. I don't know if I will be able to go into work and be comfortable with my co-workers the way I am now. Not to mention the separation referendum that will come next fall/winter if the PQ win.

I'm starting to wonder if you switch the "Liberal/Conservative" thing like an "On/Off" switch. Maybe it's just me.
I could go find posts of you supporting NAFTA whole heartedly, I bet.... unless I was just dazed or something...
Oh good, I thought it was just me.

Clogeroo would you move to England already.
Canada FIRST!! Canadian's First.
You really are one to talk.

Anyway the question was where my loyalties are and of course they are with the crown for that is the oath I swore by. I don't plan on swearing one to the constitution or to some flag or even to the premier or the prime minister anytime soon.
ah! You always talk about Canada reverting to British rule. Then you would be part of the EU.
Well honestly, I have to admit. It would be cool, I mean Canada being reverted back to a colony of Britain. Different.
Do you have immediate British ancestors?
My partents (total Liberals and you know the type, Canada First!! Anti-USA

) love the B&B's in England. They have been there a few times.
I wish that Canada could physically break away from America, and move closer to Europe.
We'd get better climate, cooler neighbours(Yanks are cool and all, but if Lisbon was closer than NYC...), less American influence(hopefully), and Americans will finally be right when they say that the own all of North America. Everybody wins!

Yes and you always talk about Canada being under American rule.
I wish Britain left the E.U. and when did I ever say we should be ruled by them or become a colony? I think I mentioned the Imperial Federation to you but that is hardly being in a colonial state.
My family came from England originally.

My grandmother left Cape Breton Island,
Literally, even though I've lived in the Western part of Canada for all my life, we call the place "the Family Home and Birthplace". My Grandfather, Daniel Jessome the First, still lives there,
Canada? A Foreign country? form Quebec?
I blame TV!
All the seperatism aroudn the little ones, expecially with schools where the administration is sometimes compeltely Seperatist (they argue over even having the Canadian Flag on the grounds) would totally fuck the kiddies up.
Expecially the parents.
Separatists are creating the Bloc Quebecois Youth.

Remidns me of the Hitler Youth.
I knwo, I totally dramatised this, but think about it.

...and your point. Notice the "
?" it was just that, a question.
They are a bunch of nut cases. Go to their web site and read it fully. The site is loaded with conspiracy theories.
I mean that have a good cause, but they seem to be a little off the mark.
If it were to come to a vote, if the NAU would help Canada economically, removed the B.S. trade road blocks we now have, open employment and create new environmental marks, then I am going to vote for the part that supports it.
It the NAU takes Canadians government and flushes it, and lets the USA run us as a colony, I will vote for the nut jobs, CAP.
I would never vote Liberal.

There are no Canadian flags at any schools here. Some hotels, and some businesses have Canadian flags.
Provincial gov't offices don't have Canadian flags, but Federal buildings do. Education is under provincial jurisdiction.

I actually refer to them as both..... But yes, I am increasinly using Quebecois...
I just viewed "Quebecois" as the "Albertan" kind of thing. As in, I'm not seperating the people of Quebec by culture...

'Words on Paper'. *shudders* That's jsut so... dark to put it.... They may be the same people, which is why I view their phlight as pointless. I'd still be upset however, because such a breakup would symbolise the end of Canada....
And I certianly don't view 'Canada' as a simple word on some loose leaf.

Why do they still exist? God I ahte the separatists.
Liek I said, if the Separatists win in my province, it won't be my province for long.

When I was in B.C. I got hassled by everyone who found out I was from Ontario.
That's such BS, you were probably hassled for being an ass. As a BCer I have worked with and been friends with people from Ontario, and they have never been hassled because of it. The only people I saw that have been hassled, were the maritimers when I worked in Alberta. And that was all in good fun and they took it in stride.
