Worse, I'm not just in Ontario, but Ottawa - The slowest functioning city in the country.

Thanks but I'm in Ottawa. Seems interesting though. Also shows that they are probably looking at hiring in many trades in the near future.

CF fiscal year has now been underway for a week. I've sent an email checking that they still know my name. Hopefully soon!

Good idea. Sent an email for my CT. Nothing like silence from Ottawa...

ginger @ Mon Apr 18, 2011 4:45 pm

I just hope the dead silence ends soon - in 4 months, I will have to do my medical, interview, and all over again as it'll be a year. That'll be a fun turn of events.

ginger @ Thu Apr 21, 2011 7:41 pm

Someone told me that since I started my file in August 2010, my file is likely closed. However, I've emailed my file manager concerning preferences and changes to my file recently, so no word that my file is closed. Should this be a concern that is looming? Could my file close? It's frustrating, as the new fiscal year has just started, so closing my file now, and making me re-apply just seems senseless right now.

Benn @ Fri Apr 22, 2011 12:30 pm

Did the file coordinator reply to you?

Its government so anything is possible. Back when I had applied for RCMP and then I moved and decided I didn't want to make anymore moves, so hence RCMP was not an option anymore I had trouble closing my file. Sent a letter to my old division then 6 months later got a call from the one I have moved to (somehow they knew where I moved) telling me I was moving on in the process. Called them, told them I sent a termination letter and even over they phone they did not want to terminate, said someone would call to talk to me, they never did and i never called to find out WTF was up.

My advice, call, email, go down there whatever to get a solid answer on the process of your file; have a back up job plan.

ginger @ Sat Apr 23, 2011 6:10 pm

Yes, I have been corresponding with my file manager. Not a lot, but it has been recently. Just a few weeks ago, I called the recruiting centre to change my second and third position preference. So everything should still be active, just not sure how long it'll last, if it expires, or what. But there has been recent correspondence to do with my file. I even had my file manager add a more updated version of my resume to my file. About a week ago, he acknowledged that he had received it and updated my file.

ginger @ Wed Apr 27, 2011 9:10 am

So my file is definitely still open, according to my file manager. It takes about a week for him to respond, so I'm in the dark for a bit.

Not sure what good it'll do, but they are having recruiters at the National Womens Show in Ottawa this weekend. Will give me the chance to speak with a recruiter in person for the first time in a while.

ginger @ Mon May 09, 2011 8:54 am

I have my second interview on Thursday. So I am doing everything I can to keep that file going. Hopefully luck will follow...

stokes @ Mon May 09, 2011 10:12 am

I work at a CF recruiting centre, since this is an "anonymous" forum I can be a little more open about how things work. MP is one of the toughest to get in to besides SARTech and Fire Fighter. If your file manager is not responding to you, go into the office and see that person and ask the following questions:

Are you Merit Listed? This will give you the best indication if your file has been moving forward. Unless you have changed your #1 choice you should only do 1 Interview.

If it has been more than 1 year since you opened your file and began processing, you want to ensure that your medical hasnt expired and also that your criminal, name and credit check is still valid. The aptitude test is good for 10 years.

If you have any general questions, I can answer them, anything specific about you I cant answer...

Dont forget to call from time to time, if your file manager isnt giving you the answers they should ask to speak to the chief clerk, just dont be a pain inthe ass...

ginger @ Tue May 10, 2011 12:40 pm

I do believe that I am merit listed. I was told this after my references were checked. I am doing this second interview by choice as I wanted to be even more competitive. Therefore, they called me about a week ago asking if I would want to do another interview. Since I would have to do it in four months anyway, I thought it sounded alright, and it ensures that my file is still active. I also feel that it shows that I am serious about a career in the CF.

I asked to do my medical again, as it will expire in a few months, but they said that they can only do it within a month of it expiring. That was ok with me, I just thought I could just do it all in one shot.

Anyway, I am hoping that all of this will speed things up. I really just want to be in the military. MP seemed the most interesting (and it was one of few that was open at the time that I applied).

ginger @ Thu May 19, 2011 9:57 am

I just found out today that I am invited to join the MPAC (Military Police Assessment Centre) next month!! Very excited. Any one know what the MPAC is like? It's not very long, and basically ensures that you are a good fit to become an MP. Still, it's so vague.
