GeorgeI was called Hanovarian from the House of Hanover. His surname was GUELPH and that was changed to Windsor in WWI. Prince Philip's surname is Mountbatten changed from Battenburg in WWI also.

This German line came from a Stuart princess who married the Elector of Saxony. JamesI sister I believe whose Grandmother, HenryVIII's sister who was married to the Scots king. JamesI mother was Mary Queen of Scots.

The Stuart line effectivelly died with William of Orange and Mary Stuart who had no issue.

I recall a Quebecois girl-friend who took offense to the Queens picture, hanging in my kitchen. When I made the comparison to Quebecois language and culture it was respected. Her mother, took offense later and got told quickly in Quebecois french by the girl friend.....Mama didn't think I comprehended. I recall at Christmas getting a book, english text, from the mama about the assimilation of the Quebec garrison during the years following the Fall of Quebec. I doubt mama had a clue as to the contents. It's called mutual respect.

The Queen is British

No, she's German.

To be German, one generally has to be born in Germany, be a German citizen, or something of that nature. She had a semi-German grandmother (Queen Mary), if that counts.

Her heritage is far more British than German. The Queen mother was of about as British of heritage as one can get, and her father's side wasn't even majority German.
