Matthew Good Band Beautiful Midnight
I have a copy in my discman, a copy in my office, one in my cd changer at home, and i've got it loaded into iTunes as well. Is that excessive?
Other favorites include; Blue Rodeo (i've got this greatest hits in my backpack, and 5 days in may/Casino in the cd player at home) Anything Matt Good, Holly Mcnarland, Sarah McLachlan, and Tom Cochrane.
I have a lot of music, and oddly enough a great deal of Canadian music. From Gordon Lightfoot, Murray MacLaughlin, and Lennie Gallant to The Tragically Hip, Sum 41, and Rush.
But for some odd reason, with all the truly great Canadian music out there these days my favourite Canadian Album is "These Days" -Grapes of Wrath.
I was a huge Grapes fan, and the demise of the band really hit me.
From the earliest days of Canadian Music when The Guess Who were trying to not be identified as "Canadian" to the more recent days of Sum 41, Nickelback, Avril, and the Tragically Hip, Canadian music has been hugely successful, even if not acknowledged as Canadian. More and more we see bands like the Barenaked Ladies, Rush, Tragically Hip, Blue Rodeo ... not afraid of being Canadian, not rushing to move out to the US. (Avril moved to NYC)
