Do Canadians support your Constitutional Monarchy???
Queen Elizabeth is great IMO, but if Charles becomes King, then I'll probably shift to a republican stance. Well, either that or advocate a Canadian monarch instead of Wanker the First.

Queen Elizabeth represents the country in a way Charles (and Camilla...) could never come close to...
If he becomes King, his responsibilities will be more and more ceremonial, and lighter. He will never become "Head of State". He just hasn't got it...
None of them have it... totally useless. But then speaking of useless we would be left with president harper and first lady... whats her name again?
Well, lets face it, not too many Quebecois will be cheering for the monarchy. Me, I can go either way. The Irish in me says one thing and the Brit in me says another.

Support
Other than tradition, and ceremony the monarchy is completely irrelevant in Canada. I think I'd need to have a reason to actually have an opinion of support or not-support. It's like asking if I support The Maple Leaf. It's just an icon, and there's likely no chance it will ever do anything to piss me off enough to oppose it.

To be honest, you really don't know. He might be fine.
Well, not knocking you Brenda but you don't want to take citizenship so your views are a bit moot. In the nicest possible way because I like and respect you.

Why thank you

I also do not care for the Dutch monarchy...

Previously it would have been President Martin and before him President Chretian. I suspect you'd be all over the latter president.

What if a bunch of them landed in your yard after four hours of raking?
I support our monarchy, I don't think it's irrelevant at all. I think any Canadian that doesn't support the monarchy doesn't know enough about how Canadian politics works and doesn't know as much as they should about Canada's history.

I don't quite understand this argument. I am fully aware of how Canadian Politics works and the significance of "The Crown", but that can be changed if we become a republic. As for the Monarchy in Canada's history, it's one of the major reasons why a schism has developed between English and French Canada, and yet another reason why I see it as a problem.

Nonesense. Anyone who supports hereditary title is living in the 15th century. I cannot support any system that favours birth-right over ability.

Now now...none of that. Are you guys still frightened of the Scarlet Pimpernel?
