Do Canadians support your Constitutional Monarchy???

The Prime Minister does not become the President. Getting rid of the Monarchy DOES NOT mean we have to copy the fucking Yanks.
Make up a new name for the GG - "The Beaver" or hell, "The Crown" so we don't have to change all the paperwork.

I support our monarchy, I don't think it's irrelevant at all. I think any Canadian that doesn't support the monarchy doesn't know enough about how Canadian politics works and doesn't know as much as they should about Canada's history.
Nonesense. Anyone who supports hereditary title is living in the 15th century. I cannot support any system that favours birth-right over ability.
Nonsense! Birthright over ability is the great predicter!
Quite being so 21st century already.

I don't quite understand this argument. I am fully aware of how Canadian Politics works and the significance of "The Crown", but that can be changed if we become a republic. As for the Monarchy in Canada's history, it's one of the major reasons why a schism has developed between English and French Canada, and yet another reason why I see it as a problem.
It's not an argument. It's my opinion. I'm very happy with our constitutional monarchy and I don't want it to change. Period.
Just out of curiosity, Arctic Menace - what category of republic would you like to see Canada become? Is there some other particular republic country that you'd like to see a Canadian republic modelled after?

Other than tradition, and ceremony the monarchy is completely irrelevant in Canada. I think I'd need to have a reason to actually have an opinion of support or not-support. It's like asking if I support The Maple Leaf. It's just an icon, and there's likely no chance it will ever do anything to piss me off enough to oppose it.
What if a bunch of them landed in your yard after four hours of raking?
Yeah.. Bloody royals, always showing up when the work is already done.
Skip Charles, I'd rather see King William III.

What's wrong with Charles?
Nothing. Everything I've read about him shows that he is personally involved in his causes, whether it is preservation of historical buildings to sustainable development, which he experiments with in his own lands. He also thumbed his nose at the Chinese, declaring he didn't dine with tyrants when Jiang Zemin visited the UK. Charles only black mark was he was assigned a vapid broodmare who shared none of his interests, and he was too public about it(the press in yesteryear wouldn't have made much it)

Agreed. I think he'll make a fine King.
Charles will make an absolute marvelous king...............FOR BRITAIN!

I'd be down for our system being modeled off of France, Germany, India; or to pick and choose some nice elements from the American system.

Wow... now you have me curious. Which one would those be?

Don't care.
Obviously you wouldn't. Kind of like that oath uttered at the Canadian citizenship ceremony. Lucky for me, I didn't have to utter it.
