the liberals may have dumped dion but there toronto supporters are the same , even with iggy at there helm i see them as exactly the same and don't see anything that has changed about them .
there becoming less of a national party and more a party based around support fromn certain ethnic groups.

The refugee system is wonderous. The Supreme Court ruled that anyone that set a foot in Canada had the right to the protection of the law and in the case of refugees to a proper legal hearing. This is despite the fact these people will not be providing a shred of evidence about their personal story beyond what they testify. That's the arrangement. Working from memory Canada accepts 45% of refugees in the system while the EU counties average 15%. We're suppose to be proud of this. These refugees are coached by lawyers as to what to say so the chances that the system is, er, "worked" is 100%. Other problems is the abuse in the rest of the world is so rampant that large numbers would qualify. All you need is a bleeding heart liberal as an adjudicator and your in. Fortunately the numbers aren't to large currently, some 23,000 a year. (A thing about the refugee system I don't understand is the government nomination class which is 8,000 or so a year. Absolutely mate! The difference is, we actually came here because we wanted to be Canadians, not hyphenated hybrids just here to get their grandparents free healthcare.

You ever been to a citizenship ceremony?

   

I was 18 when I took the oath. It was in Charlottetown PEI. It was ok to be honest. Mostly east Europeans and Lebanese families at the ceremony. Pledged my allegiance to the Queen (which is ironic because I was British citizen passport holder at the time) and sang O'Canada. Just as I would expect for any citizenship ceremony.

Is there something fundamental I am missing?

   

I fear we already have a number who would instead go to Afghanistan or Pakistan and fight Canadians instead. Hell, we even had a Prime Minister who would go to foreign jail to get them.

   

interesting though, i saw report on BBC that the Brits in Afghanistan
can pick up Taliban chatter on the radio with British accents...
