I've know two women who have had abortions, one used it as birth control the other will be haunted to her grave with her choice.
Yeah, that second woman is quite often the forgotten statistic.
All you pro-choicers out there who have so glibly told the pro-lifers to adopt all the babies.... what are you doing by way of offering counselling to women who have chosen for whatever reason to abort?
Anything at all?
We're not forcing women to abort. Pro-lifers would be forcing women to undergo pregnancy.

So is the birth of a child worth destroying 2 or 3 lives?

and what lives would be destroyed and why?

Oh right. And pregnancy is such an ordeal...
We've established that abortion is not an easy decision, and it can have serious repercussions on a woman for years. What are you doing for these women, other than saying it's their right to choose and you fully support their decision?
Do you even care what happens to them aftrwards?
Please tell me where I said I fully supported the decision.

and what lives would be destroyed and why?
Possibly the child's, mother's, and father's. As for the why, it would depend on the circumstances. Think about it for a minute, it's not hard to concieve a scenario where that is likely.

These "people" would be aborting the baby...right? So if that was the case...why would they not be putting the baby up for adoption? Not aborting does not translate out to having to raise a child that is not wanted. There are litterally thousands of couples that would LOVE to raise that child.

After an abortion, it's a given that the baby's life is destroyed. The mother's could well be too, depending on the circumstances.
The father's? Maybe he wanted the baby, maybe not - but since you're using "possibles", there's no reason I can't too.

All we're dealing with is possibilities. Women 'possibly' aborting, 'possibly' putting babies up for adoption, the 'possible' circumstances under which either might occur, are we not?

Then why, when this is so easy to do all the time, is it not done? Why does abortion exist at all? You talk about adoption like it's incredebly simple for a woman to do. I believe after a woman gives birth she's far more likely to keep a child rather than give it up, even if it will destroy both their lives. I'm not providing this as justifacation, just something to think about.
because abortion is easy...and free......
Reason`s given to me for aborting rather than carrying for 9 months and giving my wife and I the baby.......
I`ll get stretch marks......I`ll get fat..........

The baby`s life isn`t worth shit to these peole Lily...so your argument is moot.

That's bullshit. Abortion isn't easy, I would never say it is. And people giving you reasons like that are those that use abortion as birth control. I already stated I don't agree with it used in that way.

Her argument isn't moot. Unlike you, I actually respect and like to hear other people's opinions.

It didn't look like it to me. Unless the "possibly" got lost in cyberspace when you submitted?

Again... I don't see a "possibly".

What makes you believe this?
A woman and her child starving to death because she didn't want to give it up for adoption and couldn't afford to feed them both.
kal @ Tue Jun 05, 2007 7:28 pm

Okay then... please explain why you place more importance on a baby whose life "might" be destroyed than you do on one whose definitely will be?
It's when the "might" turns into certianty. I don't see the point in ruining two lives.

Oh man.
Seriously.... how often does this happen in Canada?
Not sure. It's not something people generally keep stats on. What I was sighting above happened in Sudbury, Ontario.

Besides.... you didn't answer the question. What makes you believe that most women will keep the baby after giving birth, even if it will (possibly) destroy both their lives?
My bad, misread it. Because it's happened before. Sorry if you didn't pick that up.
