Well, unlike "thelaw" in one of the other threads, he actually had me wondering for a while if I was simply not articulating my point very well. Didn't last long though. A guess the newer models are a slight step up... maybe from "0" to "0.01".
Kal,
You have been articulatiing your point well enough. Even when I don't agree with you, I feel that I understand you.
hope that helps
Well I have to admit how astonished I am to read the statistic canada page on induced abortions.
The lowest rate of induced abortion was for women between 30-34 yrs old.
Just for sake of evaluation, lets do the following:
- lets assume that 30-34 is the optimum age for a women to want a child.
- lets assume that women's health concerns increase as they get older
- lets assume that every abortion at 30-34 is truly neccessary ( and lets not even get into a debate about the definition of neccessary)
...........
ok, so here is what I'd like to do with that chart, subtracts the 15 aborts per 100 live births from all the age groups,
- lets call the remaining difference the real number abortions that are not truly neccessary
....................
I still find those numbers staggering.
Kath, you talk about about me being an activist. I think everyone on this thread should agree to do something

I agree with you AR, it is staggering. But what exactly has our shock to do with being pro-life of pro-choice?
Oh well, I guess we are going back to the circle here
i say mandatory abortions for all. I'm anti-choice. if you can't prove you can support a child you should be forced to abort it. it's the only economic answer

Okay, assuming I take this seriously...
What if I work as a maid, black of course, living mortgage free, and for a bit supported by my ex-hubby. I can take care of myself, and my 3 other kids. But, according to some list, I am not supposed to be able to take care of my fourth baby, because my income is not sufficient. You think I should be forced to abort my baby?
And what about adoption? Lots of future parents who can't conceive are on a waiting list.
I've seen a couple who got preg, and decided to abort because they didn't feel ready. High school kid who wasn't ready, another one got her baby raised by her parents.
All situation where adoption would have avoided death or a difficult situation.

Aye, it does. Like most people, I don't mind if people don't agree. I just like presenting and hearing different points of view. GerryHurt seems to be taking everything I say and firing it to the extreme end.

I agree. Raises the question though "why arn't more of these people giving the child up for adoption?" Perhaps that's a more worthy place to focus efforts instead of this whole pro-life pro-choice stuff. Eleminate the percieved need to abort, and I think the number of abortions will decrease dramatically.

How about replacing all arbortions with a hysterestomy/abortion? We'll get those 23% of women eventually.

That is a lame pathetic exuse. if you are mature enough to decide that you aren't ready, you are ready!

You are not looking at the bigger picture -> my angle is with Adoption.
Regarding the abortion of my friends because they didn't feel ready, well, they could have giving the baby for adoption.
kids waiting to be adopted are a burden on our economy. as we live in a capitalist society i don't see why the economic advantages of forced abortion aren't being taken into account. not to mention the drop in crime that would result.

Do you have any sound statistics to back that up???
