The ongoing problem with natives today is that they invariably end up finger pointing to events over a cenury ago. Whether some treaties were honoured seems at this point to be moot since even if it 'setetled' its never really setteled. No doubt a few years later some other band will come along and nake a cliam to land that's already been agred upon because the second band is making claims on the first bands land who originaly 'settled' the claims with the Taxpayer. Its a giant bait and switch game and the end reult is that the Taxpayer is contnually paying out its had earned dollars to settle claims that are dubious at best.

And as for paying 'rent' you miss the fact the the idea that natives somehow owned the 'land' is a historical courtesy, with no actual pysical, archealogical basis in fact that native bands can accurately point out the exact dates and places where they have set up thier societies with organized goverments that implicitly recognize one another with documentation other than completlely unreliable 'oral histories'. Natives irregardless of what they might say have no more right to 'ownership' of the entire landmass of Canada than Italy does with modern Egypt today because "X" number years ago Egypt was formally part of the Roman Empire. Rent is payed to 'owners' and native people 'ownership' of the vast area they claimed in a scramble for cash is archeologically, and more important the utter lack of physical documention to confirm this.

Canada began making deals with treaties with native groups, only to find that native groups were violating the treaties as much as they claim settlers were violating it . But Canadian Taxpayers preservered, bending over backwards only to find themselves to be in a financial black hole. Billions of dollars spent and still natives across Canada set up road blacks like Caledonia for wht they interpret as a violation of a treaty, and they best way they can epxress themelves is to bet up Retired Peole and try to kill Police Officers.

Canaians dont cry - they act. they work to improve teir own lot and use the advantages of a society they elped build by creating business, profeesions, schools and all along contributing to Canada to make sure it is a better place for our children so that they can use thier owb education to make their own way in life , as opposed to whining about how bad things are. Canadians alsohave paid taxes for sometime to provide social programs that are to benefit all Cnadians- not just a select privilged group who believe they're entitled to special rights becaue they happen to have more pigment in ther skin than others. It was canadian Taxpayers who created Medi-CAre , Candians Taxpayers who fund public schools for all children, not just a priviliged few. Taxpayers pay for law enforcement for all citizens not just a priviliged few. Taxpayers also pay for the defence of this country in order to defend us from people who would take away our freedoms and replace them with some perverted view of government- be it Islamic, Hindu.Sikh,Facist,Communst. And Taxpayers have done this for decades.

And all along the natives in this country have bellowed out at how they're being treated unfairly when the oporutunties for betterig their own ives have been right in front of their faces for decades. Its means getting an education, doesnt matter if your a plumber or a a doctor, but it must be a marketable skill that people - allpeople vaue and will pay money for you to go and perform work for them. And that is the scaiest word of all 'work' real day-to-day work ewhere by the dint of your own efforts person rises or falls on their own abilities, not from a hypothetical idea that your great great gradfather signed a 'treaty'.

If you want a batter life, it must be earned, now, here in the modern world were everyday your value as a professional is tested not on the coulour of your skin, but the quality of your work.

Again, if we had no basis for a legal argument in a Canadian court of law these claims would never be settled.

You are already paying for it. You have no choice. The only way you'll stop paying for it is if you move out of Canada.



Funny thing is, who really owns that land? You? At any point in time, any level of Canadian government can take your land and give you whatever they feel is fair.

So your title means little more then as long as you pay your taxes and you stay out of the way of a highway improvement project or pipeline you can live there.

Moreover, really, in the grand scheme of things no one really cares about you or how much taxes you pay. Just keep paying them.




Similarly we do not give a damn about what you think. We are not giving up our fight to keep our culture and the legacy of treaties and self determination that our grandfathers left us.

Like I said, if you have some objection to our land claims and you have some way to protest the dollars that are given to natives then take it to court.

As for reducing money to natives and their Ideology, it is coming. Stephen Harper is more popuar now than when he was elected. Mostly for bringing common sense back to the idea that the public purse is the Taxpayers money (something for which you seems to have no repsect). The Kelwona agreement has been hollowed out and a Conservative Parliment has nifty tool called the non-withstanding act to keep a sensible lid on Taxpayers dollars.

   

You are more concerned about serving your people than the people you serve. Ask around to see how many average natives are really so dedicated to these land claims.

You treat this as you raison d'etre.

   

If you are so correct, then bring your evidence to court. Stop our land claims in front of your own judges.

What are you worried about, so many natives these days say they dont recognize Canada as a nation that they can do as they please, assault retired people , try to kill cops and get away with it. The Conservatives can use the non-withstanding act to overide any more moeny to natives untill they can absoloutely prove that the land masses they 'claim' were thiers were in fact that?

And maybe the consrvatives can pass stricter laws to limit massive amount of frivolous 'land claims' and put the burden of proof upon the natives to some up with physical documentation that inerrably proves that the ridiculous amount of area that they 'claim' is thiers is a cerfiabe fact.

Why shouldnt Taxpyers support a government who will say once and for all Canadians are Canadians irregardless of the pigment of their skin? And as Canadians that means no more freebies and government cheques because of the pigmentation of ones skin?

If you claim we are not and you can prove it in court and that proof would have some effect on our land claims then come on down.

It is an accepted fact that we are the First People of this land.

Send your experts to court. Even if you could prove it, it would make no difference, as international law distinguishing inhabited land from uninhabited did not exist then.

However, it did in 1500AD.
