No it doesn't max out at 210 a week. Mine would have run almost a year if I hadn't found a job. I don't live in my moms basement, granted I only pay 550 rent in PG. I also made all my car payments as well.

EI is just there to give you a small influx of cash to take care of the bare necessities while you are looking for work. If you feel you are going to be out of work for a long time im sure there are lots of places that one can find employment to help make ends meet until a more suitable job comes along.
Plus, personal savings also helps in these times as well. Its called saving for a rainy day. There are two many people these days that think they should be able to live off of EI when thats not it's purpose.

I'll agree with you, what is out there for people laid off in manufacturing who are now looking at a very prolonged recession/depression and have mortgages and kids and all that? More important, does Harper care - NO

You bitch about the EI program it was the LIBERALS who changed it to what it is now.
And I will place money that the upcoming budget includes income tax cuts.

That's the key, it's called personal responsibility. I had about 8k in the bank when I lost my job so I knew that if EI ran out I could still make it for awhile. I was also prepared to move back to Alberta to find work. You can't just sit on EI and expect the world to cater to you.

Lets not forget that if Harper had been in charge in '03, we would be waist deep in Iraq right now. Iggy wasnt even in the country at that time and regardless, he could do a better job from the moon than harper warming a chair in the house.

not at all, on the contrary. I merely point this out as many "liberals" have always enjoyed bashing the US, and it's politicians. I think it is a true bought of irony that the new liberal leader is an American.
Have you noticed how 'quiet' everyone is about that? Can u imagine the noise they would be making if a conservative leader was an American?
Look at the fuss over Dion being a French citizen..
So I find it highly hypocritical for the left, and the liberals in particular to be so quiet now.
