I wouldn't say that, Avro. Christians, or those with a Christian background/heritage, dominate the North American and European media. I was referring to Ireland though. The biggest rumoured arms suppliers to Irish para-militaries were the Libyans and American-based organised crime, including the Hells Angels. Much of the money for Irish para-militaries came from wealthy US donors.
Those para-militaries, most notably the IRA, undoubtedly commited terrorist acts and were/are undoubtedly religion based. Murders (terrorist assasinations) committed in their names have spanned most of Europe and North America. No move to ban Irish Christians from immigrating to Canada was proposed.
Blaming the average Muslim for the acts of terrorists who share their faith is no different than holding all Christians responsible for the acts of a few radical Irishmen and their criminal suppliers and their funders who live so respectably in our midst.

All I have left to say on this matter is, religion, pollitics, racism and weapons don't mix. Any religious leader that preeches hatred or violence isn't "a man of God".

This is so disgusting I don't even want to reply but I will for the sake of Canada. I had a friend at school last year (who has since moved to Toronto) and he was guess what... a Muslim, now this friend of mine, he was a real bad ass, he came to school everyday with an ak-47 and when he saw a Jewish kid he's beat the shit out of him, why? Beacuse my friend was Muslim and according to you all Muslims do is blow up busses and murder Jews. It doesn't matter that he was only 16 and that his dad was a university professor (also Muslim) and was assinated for that reason. Now as you may have guessed this isn't true, I did have a Muslim friend who's dad was assinated but my friend didn't beat on Jews and he didn't blow up busses he came to school everyday and he tried like hell, much harder than many of my white Christian friends did. He was a good guy and I'm so glad you aren't the Prime Minister because if you were I never would of had the chance to meet him and that would have sucked.
Now for a new aproach to this. You claim all Muslims are pure evil because every man woman and child wants nothing but to blow up the Cn Tower. By your logic I could say all WASPS (White Anglo-Saxon Protistents) (WASPS) are evil blood thirsty cross burning bastards because of the Klu Klux Klan. I could also say all germans are white surpremistests because some of them were Nazis in WW2. I could also say all Jews are crooked accountants who caused the depression in Germany in the 30s. I could also say all Black people do is sell drugs and steal cars. I could say alot of shit but then I'd be no better than you.
You are a sad worthless person and if anyone should be prevented from living in Canada it's people like you.
(as you most likely noticed I kind of rambled on and mispelled alot of stuff but it's 1:30 in the morning, I get ADD when I'm pissed at morons and I have dyslexia so stick to the topic instead of bashing my writing like many do)

I assume you are a Christian or of Christian heritage, Avro...most of us are. Most of the slamming of Christians is an inter-denominational thing...one sect against another.
Dogma and the Last Temptation of Christ were not anti-Christian movies any more than Life of Brian was. That's like saying Jason and the Argonauts was anti-Zeus.
Only extreme nut-job Christians are presented as being such. George Bush, for example, is a lunatic and should be locked up because that's what we do with people who think their own personal god is talking to them. Hearing voices is never good.

I am a former Moslem, born and raised in the Middle East. I am very disappointed and almost scared after watching your presentation about Islam. One of the reasons I fled to the United States of America was to escape the oppressive regime of Islam in the Middle East. From a former Moslem, these people are in the US to Islamize America and have a scary agenda. They audaciously buy churches and convert them into mosques!
I think your show was insensitive to the Judeo-Christian community of the United States. Islam is cruel, anti-women, anti-religious freedom and anti-personal freedom in general. How could you sympathize with a religion that kills adulterers, homosexuals and people who convert out of Islam? How could you present Islam with such affection? I am sorry that PBS failed to represent the oppression, fear and the straight jacket I had to endure when I lived under that crazy regime.
In the show, you stressed how the West should understand Islam. Why is America responsible for understanding every little and big culture and religion around the World, failing which we are branded bigots and racists? How about asking the Moslems if they could open their minds and hearts and understand the West? Perhaps they will slow down their terrorism, burning our flags and hijacking airplanes. Unfortunately, the Middle East has no clue about the American culture and they only judge us by Hollywood! How about US media educating Moslems about US culture and the virtues of our Constitution? Did that ever occur to you?
When I married a Christian man in my home country twenty-five years ago, I could have been killed by Moslems for daring to do so. I was questioned about my husband's religion even by Moslem workers at the US embassy, who asked me point blank if he converted to Islam, implicitly threatening to report me to Moslem authorities! I personally know Moslem women who were circumcised against their will! How could you defend a religion that declares a "fatwa", or death sentence, to anyone who is critical of the religion? How could you defend a religion that inspired 9/11? Of course not all Moslems are terrorists, but unfortunately, the majority of ‘moderate’ Moslems respect the fundamentalists as ‘true’ Moslems and even feel guilty toward them. If this were not true we should be seeing massive displays of support for the US, strong denouncements of radical Islam by the moderates. This has not happened. Instead, the most vocal Islamic groups in the West are taking a confrontational stance, complaining of discriminatory treatment, taking their cue from liberal civil-rights groups.
The liberal media is only too eager to egg them on.
I now write articles critical of Islam and speak to many groups about the Middle East but have to use a pseudonym so I do not get killed by some of your Moslem friends in the US mosques you were interviewing! They have no shame to be complaining of discrimination after 9/11, thanks to Media outlets like you who gave them a voice. The US goes out of its way to protect them. What discrimination? Are you kidding? These mosques in the US are financed by Saudi money and have an agenda and they scare people like me who want to write and speak freely. Scared and oppressed former Moslems like me could be killed by these Moslem extremists in US mosques. There are many moderate Moslems and former Moslems like me who feel intimidated by some US Moslem extremists. Former Moslems have to be given a voice on why they escaped Islam. People like me and oppressed Christians and Jews in the Moslem World had no say on your show. That is very sad. I wish you had defended my right to choose or reject Islam without getting killed.
Is Islam now the "in" thing to defend to sabotage America, or did Saudi money corrupt you?!

That's it exactly Avro. This thread isn't entitled "stop fundamentalism" is it? Nope, so apparently fundamentalist Christians who preach the same things as fundamentalist Muslims are okay.
The words Christian Jihad have appeared on this board at least once. I saw neither Godz nor Third Eye speaking out against that phrase, so presumably they think that genocide based on religion is fine as long as it isn't people from their religion being killed.

There's a typical response from you. You frequently make your hate for Bush, etc, etc, etc known regardless of the thread topic. Do you live your life with double standards or only when it's convenient?
Muslim immigration should be stopped until this horrific nonsence is dealt with hopefully once and for all. It won't of course as that's the way of the world. In the meantime we can minimize our assimilation and conversion to the Koran by stopping the immigration which won't happen because of ridings such as that of Carolyn Parrish and the votes that keep her and her ilk located precisley at the trough. Keeping in mind that a nobody backbencher has a starting salary of 141K and that doesn't include benefits or pension. Sold for thirty pieces? You have been.
