Why should'nt Alberta seperate?

To tell you the truth...i can't. You guys would be able to support your selves financially...for a time. You might be able to have a decent enough army to defend your selves. The problem is, what are you going to use for your focus on economy?

Oil won't last forever, but ill give you the other two. But can a country live off wheat exports alone?

But the gas will,as for the wheat exports......did you not see that old fellow that tried to deliver a bushel of wheat to the 4h club in the states? The RCMP threw him in jail.

I would say that its just because Alberta can't deal with the shitty government we have as of now, wait and see if the cons get in. What is the story of the old dude?

Better google and read up on coal bed methane. :wink:

OOOOHHH, so natural gas? that makes sense. Seriously, i would love to move to alberta after i finish school. I will probably take all night to think of a good reason :wink:

Well there is no real reason for it to seperate in the first place, but if Quebec seperates then Alberta will seperate thats for sure.

Never happen,the east hates the west and vice verca.Give me one good reason why Alberta should stay in Canada. And dont say transfer payments,it's hard working Canadians that make the oil patch happen and their from all over Canada.

well first thing I'd want to know is how much of the current Albertan discontent with confederation is based on constitutional issues and how much is based on the a party that most of you hate winning the last 4 elections. Let's be honest as long as there're Albertans alive who lived through the NEP and its aftermath the Liberals will never prosper in the province regardless of what they do.
If you honestly believe that even with a Conservative govt in Ottawa, Alberta would still have unresolvable constitutional, fiscal and cultural issues with the rest of Canada then maybe you should separate.
