I read that some column a few days ago and I can't remember the columnist but I know they didn't reference her as the authour of it. I think Ann just maybe stole it from someone else.
It's still funny though, whoever wrote it.
Thing is, there's such a rich field of things in football to poke fun at (the play-acting, the cartoon-ish villainy of FIFA, ridiculous Latino commentators, et al). But no, she goes the lazy, "it's not American" road.
Honestly, Soccer is the most capitalist sport around. If you're the worst team in a league, you aren't rewarded with a first choice draft pick. Your team gets sent down to a lower league where they make less money and have to sell off the better players and rebuild. Imagine if the Oilers after these last few seasons had to play in the AHL. Compared to the NFL which does a lot to ensure parity between the teams as best they can (which I like).
Anyway.....forget that.
The semi-finals are now set. A repeat of the 2002 final between Germany and now Neymar-less Brazil and a repeat of the 1978 final between Holland and Argentina.
Argentina played well this morning as they nullified Belgium's attackers. Though I doubt a solitary goal will seal the deal against Holland.
The first half of the Costa Rica/Holland was a snoozer but it ended frantically only for Costa Rica's fairytale run to come to an end as Holland finally exorcised their penalty kicks demon.
And lastly, here is why should mourn Colombia's exit from the WC, apart from the young brilliance of James Rodriguez.
I prefer this piece to Ann Coulter's...
How Soccer Is Destroying American Exceptionalism
Is it over yet?
4 more games. Then baseball can go back to destroying 100 hours of TV per game.
WTF!!!!!
5-0 for Germany over Brazil.
Brazil is really getting booed.
7-0 now.
Don't do it, Germany! Don't do it, you son of a bitch! Bah Gawd, Brazil has a family!
So what's the over/under on suicides in Brazil tonight?
