This simply can't be true...there's 2 GM engines and only one Toyota!!!!!

It just might be true. The news this morning said Toyota's sales dropped 28% this quarter, which puts them right up there with the big 3 carmakers in lost revenue.

too bad their loss is a lot smaller loss than the big 3. If toyota reports a loss you know the big 3 are FUCKED

.(former big 3

Too bad you need to have an entire car attached to the engine in order to drive it
I would sure like to see the original link from the article, not one from a forum.
Mtbr. That list is legit. It's made by Ward's AutoWorld magazine. What I'd like to know is what the rest of the automotive magazine world think of Ward's list.
Here's the link to their site with their "best list".

Not only that, but Corolla sales are off projections as well
Not like Toyota is running to close plants and have mass layoffs. Spilled milk.
One person's "spilled milk" is another's fact. I noticed nothing tangible was offered as a rebuttal.
I cant beleive no Diesel engines on the list!
The Daimler engine is a diesel.
Unfortunately for GM, those engines won't sell well with Gas Prices this high. They should have put the effort into a 4 Banger or at least a 6. Giant V8s are going the way of the Dodo.

Wasn't meant as a rebuttal. Just my humble observation that this is toyota's first drop in sales in how many years? In the past few years, whenever the BIG 3 have drops in sales there is talk of job cuts and plant closures, many of which become reality. With Toyota's current strengh, growth and profits, this quarter's sales drop is just "spilled milk".
sandorski. GM does use the Toyota 1.8L four banger in the Pontiac Vibe. Maybe they should make a new 4 banger based on it? The big GM V8s are a current killer for them, but not as bad as the HEMIs Dodge has. I do agree with you that GM needs a new reliable, gas sipping engine though.

Never said it was a rebuttal, because it wasn't. I was merely stating an objective point. In fact, if Motor Trend sees it fit to include the fact that Toyota is scaling back sales expectations for its bread-and-butter Corolla (which is interesting considering it's an fuel efficient, econo car in a climate of climbing gas prices) than most wouldn't consider that insignificant and not assign silly conclusions like "spilled milk".

WOOOOO G37!
Motor Trend doesn't speak for the whole automotive world. A drop in sales expectations for one model (in this case Corolla) is insignificant when compared to Toyota's entire production line up of vehicles. One "bad apple" won't spoil the bunch.
The Toyota Prius is a much more econo car than the Corrola.
When I mentioned "spilled milk" I'm saying that Toyota's sales drop for this quarter won't affect the company or its workforce like sales drops affect GM, Ford, Chrysler. When they (GM, Ford, Chrysler) have sales drops what do you think happens? Job cuts and plant closures. What do you think this sales drop will do to Toyota? Will they have job cuts? Will they close plants? Will they start to disband it's divisions? Will they dis-continue some vehicle models? No they won't. If anything, they might scale back Corrola production slightly, and that would a be minimal effect for Toyota. Therefore "spilled milk".

And it's not a respected automotive journal? Weak. Should I work off you instead? I'll chalk that up to you grasping for anything, in the hopes it's something

It's one of their "bread and butter" automobiles and as such, warrants considerable attention when sales drop. If you read more Motor Trend you'd know that.

Thanks for not making a point. That doesn't change the fact that the Corrola's sales figures haven't met expectations. Got anything relevant to offer?

It's significant enough that major automotive journals feel it warrants print. I could car less what you think, but I do respect Motor Trend or the Globe and Mail (which was recently commenting on Tundra drops as well) and they seem to suggest that everything isn't rosy at Toyota. AND if this continues, then maybe the do enter feel the pinch at the corporate, manufacturing and distribution levels. At the end of day, it's still objective fact and all you've offered opinion. Sorry, its immaterial.
