That's what happened to me. Close to 200 ships and solar sats...all gone.
Fleets can't be attacked while moving, so people try and show up in the middle of the night, wipe out your fleet and steal resources. If they're good, they also time their recyclers to hit just after their attack hits you and clean up the debris field as well.
Just like idle fleets, lots of solar sats attract raids, so my policy is to build no more than 20 on any planet. It means I pay through the nose for solar plants and/or fusion reactors, but those can't be destroyed and scooped up like solar sats.
Personally, IMHO, the key to surviving this game is to raid inactives like crazy (some days my fleets go on 3 raids) and not annoy the bigger alliances and players. I've never understood some people who want to hit guys ranker higher than them. Ogame is all about bullying (or raiding), so while some guy is picking on you, you can pick on someone else.
I lost 4 battleships, 3 cruisers, about 20 fighters and 10 cargo ships yesterday on a raid and I still went up in points!
I raid inactives like crazy, I send about 4-5 fleets on 3-4 missions every day. the minerals i collect from my two colonies is nothing compared to what I get from raiding
Keep doing that then. I was growing 10% a day once I built a decent fleet. It gets harder and harder because I'm trying to keep my fleet small for the time being and do research and improve my planets instead.
What is a decent fleet mixture for raid inactives? How do you tell they are inactive?
Any planet with (i) is inactive for 2 weeks, one with (i l) is inactive for 4 weeks. Make sure you scan them and find out if they have defences before you send any ships. If there are no defences, then just send transports. If there are defences, send some fighters/cruisers/battleships to knock them out first.
kewl thanx
Ok I've got a small cargo ship and a small fighter. I've done some espionage on a planet and there are no ships in orbit and it has lots of resources. How do I go about raiding it?
As long as there is no fleet or defense, simply send your cargo ship to the planet... it'll take up to half of each of the planets resources, or the maximum capacity of the ship.
kewl, thanx again.
Well I got hit hard. Got a moon out of it though.

destroyed!
He captured
359.993 metal, 137.129 crystal and 151.905 deuterium.
The attacker lost a total of 360.000 units.
The defender lost a total of 13.538.000 units.
At these space coordinates now float 2.094.900 metal and 763.500 crystal.
The chance for a moon to be created is 20 %.
The enormous amounts of drifting metal and crystal particles attract each other and slowly form a lunar satellite in the orbit of the planet. Moon was given.

So I sent my cargo ship on a transport mission to this planet. it will automatically fill its hold once it gets to the planet and return?
Yep... only involvement you have at this point is to recall it if you want, before it reaches the planet.
Can someone check and see if I'm out of noob status in uni14 please. System 1:52.
you're not in noob status.
