Does anyone know what is required to be considered a "strong" player?
From what I've seen, most of the bigger, senior alliances consider you a strong player if you are in the top 200. Everyone else is pretty much small fry...
If by strong you mean the little "s" by their name, it just means they're 5 times stronger than you...

Good show! That's why everyone should fleet/res save every night!
Even if you're still in n00b protection, other n00bs can hit you and hurt you.
What is and how do you fleet/res save?

Fleet save?
Just before you log off you send your fleet on a transport mission and time its return with your return. I'm gone to work for about 10 hours so I send my fleet on a ten hour tour. When you select the destination, immediately below that you can set the speed and it tells you how long the one-way trip will be so if you will be gone for 8 hours you pick a speed that gets you about a four hour one-way trip. This is fleet saving.
Don't leave mad resources on your planets when you log off either. This is another invitation to attack. Spend all that you can before you log off. You need to manage your resources between all your planets when you need large sums of resources for research then ship it all to your main location at once for the research task. It's that or raid like mad and don't sleep until you got the resources you need.
Kewl thanks.

Err...you can also send the fleet on an 'overnight' raid mission on an inactive player's planet.

That's what I do. I figure if a big SOB with a phalanx scans me, it won't matter whether I send them to a debris field or on a raid...at least this way I get resources out of it.

for you Ogamers I worked on this for hours last night and its pretty sweet, its a site to track all the data we collect from the universe, among other things.
http://clan.canadaka.ca/galaxy/(members only)
I still haven't received any confiramation email yet. Is it broken?
Your approved now, sorry took so long, didn't realise there was a bunch of pending accounts. There were a couple for people I have no idea who they are.. so they are not approved yet, in case they're spies!
Here's something that's been buggin me for some time: Why, in galaxy view, do some planets have an '*' or '## min' beside their name? It pops up when you probe a planet, but it shows up on others that I didn't touch... anyone know?
Alright! Thanks for sorting that out! I was getting lonely out there in the middle of space.
UPDATE
A bunch of people over at the =CKA= clan have decided to join up an yet ANOTHER galaxy that is just opening today.
Universe 31
The main focus will still be 14, but 31 offers the best of 14 and 30 (which has pretty much failed).
It has the ACS system so you can help alliance members attack and defend, and is the same speed as 14.
So you are welcome to join up on 31, if you have time to play 2 universe. The alliance is the same, CKA.
It opened this morning, but we purposly waiting to this evening to signup. We made the mistake with 30 of signing up right at the start and being all seperated across 4 galaxies. and Many of us were stuck in galaxy 1 with all the hardcore players.
This time a bunch of us waited and signed up at the same time, so we all got planets close to each other in Galaxy2.
Done and done...

WTF??? I've worked my ass off in uni30 to get where I am. I'm ranked 700 and lead the alliance by over 14,000 points!!!
Should I look for an 'active' alliance to continue playing with?? I'm not going to join uni31 as that game speed is too slow.
And for another thing, for those in uni30, if they put a bit of time in they'd be in good shape in short order because of the 2x speed. Also, as for the hardcore players all being in galaxy one, thats crap, there's tons of top ranked players in galaxy three and I personally got attacked by a player that was ranked #1 at the time.
we are not quiting 30 at this point, people still play and the alliance is still around the same size as its ever been.
But people soon realised that 30 was not going to be any easier or better than 14 for moving up in ranks. So most people shifted there focus back to 14.
If you are playing, I highly recommend you register on the http://clan.canadaka.ca website, because thier is a lot more Ogame talk there. It's were the planning and such goes on, and it helps that we know what people are doing.
